UC transfer admission eligibility question. PLEASE HELP!

I am a civil engineering major, and I'm going in to my second semester at Saddleback College. I plan on transferring to UCI in two years. I had a question about what the last part of the UC transfer admission eligibility section on assist.org really means.

Four transferable college courses (3 semester or 4-5 quarter units each)chosen from at least two of the following subject areas: the arts and humanities (Area UC-H), the social and behavioral sciences (Area UC-B), and the physical and biological sciences (Area UC-S).

My plan is to take one behavioral science course, and three physical science courses because that fulfills the minimum of two fields requirement. I already have one physical science done (geology 20), and I'm taking a behavioral science next semester (intro to psychology). This means that I would only need two more physical science classes, and since I'm an engineering major, I will definitely have those physical science classes finished. What I'm confused about is whether or not I have to take a biological science class because the field is named "physical AND biological sciences". In my current plan, I only have physical sciences listed, but I'm not sure if I have to take a biological class on top of that. I really hope I don't because that would totally ruin my plan to transfer out in two years. Can someone please clarify this for me?

Is there anyone willing to reply? I’ve had almost a hundred views…

Your plan should work, but you need to double check with this page:

[ASSIST Report: SADDLBK 10-11 UC Transfer Admissions Eligibility Course List](<a href=“Welcome to ASSIST”>Welcome to ASSIST)

It outlines which classes at Saddleback qualify for certain areas (arts, physical/biological sci, etc), and specifically states how many units of each area you need. So if you already have a plan of which specific courses you want to take over the next few semesters, double check with the page I linked to and make sure it all matches up.

EDIT: To clarify, UC-S is the area for “physical and biological sciences.” So if you pick physical science classes from the area UC-S in the page I linked to, you won’t need any biological science classes. According to the document, you need classes from UC-S, but not specifically biological AND physical.

Hope this helps,

Thank you so much!!! You have no idea how much that helped me. I checked the site, and the classes I want to take all match up =)
