I'm having trouble understanding what the UC eligibility requirements really mean

I'm a civil engineering major at my first semester of community college. I needed some clarification on what assist.org is really trying to explain when saying...

Four transferable college courses (3 semester or 4-5 quarter units each)chosen from at least two of the following subject areas: the arts and humanities (Area UC-H), the social and behavioral sciences (Area UC-B), and the physical and biological sciences (Area UC-S).

When they say i have to four courses from atleast two of the areas, does this mean that, hypothetically speaking, I would take four courses from the physical and biological sciences IN ADDITION to taking four courses from the arts and humanities area or just take four courses in total? I really hope it's only four courses otherwise I'll be staying at a ccc for a long time considering I'm an engineering major. Can someone please clarify this?

Four total, so yes, your plan would work.

Thanks a lot for the reply, so does this mean that I’d only have to take two other classes from either the arts or behavioral science field, since I’ll definitely have two physical sciences?

Yessir, that’s correct.

Thanks a lot!! I’ve been freaking out over that for so long lol. I’m already bummed out over possibly having to stay in community college for three years with just my major requirements, and I really don’t want to add like four more classes on top of that.

Haha no problem :)
