UC Transfer Applicants 2005 for fall of 2006

Hey everyone, please dont post of the other thread, its old and has already way too many pages on that thing, i started this thread to hear what my fellow students are bringing to the transfer table

3.699 current
3.76 after winter

over 80 credits when done

polysci/legal studies

pretty much only looking at UCB and UCLA

3.51 currently
History major
Could be a 3.6 by the end of the fall semester. I'm looking at UCLA,UCSB,UCSC,AND UCSD. GOODLUCK.

Major: Political Science / Legal Studies

Current GPA: IP (my professor is going to get back to me on this. She is checking my final grade in macro from last semester since she might have calculated my points wrong)

Current Credits: 55.5 (including this semester)

Applying to:
CAL (Far Reach)
UCLA (Reach)
UCSD (Match)
UCI (Match / Safety)
UCSB (Safety)

Major: philosophy (BUT applying to UCLA as poli sci)
GPA: 3.55 (3.62 after fall05)

Applying to:
Berk, UCLA, UCSD,...

Credits:
79 after Fall '05--85-91 after Spring '05.

3.2, business economics, missing calc, will be in at ucsb, ucsc... shooting for ucd and ucsd(reach) becuase my gpa will be higher after this semester.

Major- History
GPA 3.8
Appying to UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, UCR, UCB

Major: Political Science
GPA: 4.0 (hopefully 4.0 after winter 05, may get a B, should stay at 4.0)
Schools: UCB, UCLA, on a guarantee plan to UCSD

I will have all major prep and IGETC done by the end of spring.

How many units completed, chunkphat?

and what was your courseload? your stats are nice, did you take calc or english 1c?

I have 35 units completed from my first year. I'm currently taking 18. It's highly unlikely that I get less than a 4.0 this semester too. That will bring me up to 53. I'll take 17 my last semester to transfer with the full 70. For political science I don't have to take calc. It's "one introductory statistics course" so I took stats 160. My english requirement is finished as well. I finished English 120 (or ENGCOMP3 at UCLA) and English 124 (don't know what its called at UCLA) to complete the first category of IGETC. This semester I'm taking Pol Sci 20, 40, and 50, History 7A, History 4B, and some health education class.

Majors & Schools (in order):
UCB - Mass Communications
UCLA - Music History
UCSB - Communications
UCI - Film and Media Studies
UCR - Music and Culture

GPA: 3.83 Currently, 3.85 after this semester. I'm only taking 2 classes right now, and I'm planning on taking next semester off. I'll have 65 units after this semester finishes up. IGETC and all major pre-reqs for each major completed.

Also, do you guys think im a match or reach for UCB? Everyone transfering into UCLA for Music History averages 3.4, so should I consider that a safety or a match? and UCSB should be a safety right?

3.83 current
Will be i think 3.85ish after this semester

60 credits when done
communications major

I have already applied to UCSB for spring term, but if that doesnt work out I will be applying to UCLA, ucsb (again) and possibly usc

3.45 current
3.33 - 3.65 by Spring

60 transferrable units when done
NOTE: I got a D and an F in two NON-transferrable courses. How does this look in terms of UCSB, even when I meet the transfer agreement?

Applying to *UCSB (invoking Transfer Admission Agreement), UCSC, UCD

Major: Film Studies

When a school makes its decision, do they judge the gpa more heavily based on what it is at time of submission, after the fall semester, or prior to transfer?

They judge it based on what it is after the fall semester.

Guitarshark85-keep in mind that if you take a semester off you have to explain that in your personal statement.

Rawr101-You're fine.

yea, im dedicating the 600 word, 3rd essay to that. when i get it all done i might post it to get some feed back.

no you can explain it in the gap in education section. im taking the semester off and this is what i was told to do. if you explain it there you dont have to in the ps

Just some advice from somebody who has been through this process. Don't apply to only UCLA and UCB. It'd be a really good idea to have a couple safties in there as well, since there are pleanty of exceptionally smart people who get into neither UCLA or UCB.

With that said best of luck to all of you, and don't get too stressed. When March comes around and the schools start letting you know if you're in or not, it can be a very stressful event! You all seem to have pretty good GPA's, so I think you all have a shot at the school of your choice.!

Major: Philosophy
GPA: 3.8
Units: 48 by end of fall, 66 by end of spring (still need 3 classes for major, will be done with igetc)
Schools: UCLA, UCB, probably UCSD and UCI (considering some out-of-state schools on East Coast)
