UC transfer Out of State 2015 admissions thread

I submitted my applications, and I've applied to most of the UC's, and I was wondering if there are other OOS UC transfers out there. Since there is not a lot of resources for OOS transfers, I thought it make it a little easier if someone made a thread for OOS transfer applicants to share information or thoughts about the transfer process. (I'm guess I'm kind of nervous, since I heard it's pretty hard to transfer to a UC from OOS).

One, are you aware of the fees to OOS students. It will run you at least $55k

Well, I am a california resident and dependent and I graduated from a california high school, so I would be able to qualify for in state tuition

If you are living in California now, and have been for a number of years, you should be okay.

Hey sorry but if your out of state transferring from a CC you’ll need at least a 3.7 for ucla and Berkeley probably a 4 0 because California is a lot different than the rest of the nation and politically it’s beneficial for them to enroll as many qualified CA residents, because a large bulk of the money is being made from international students who pay a much higher rate then both in and oos applicants.

I didn’t read your full comments but your not oos anymore duh

Actually, he is OOS even if he is a resident because he is not going to a CCC or an in-state school. His application will be processed as an OOS applicant.

Your thread has gotten off to a great start, xaevyr. Nothing but complaints from ppl who aren’t OOS. :-/

Out of state people has better chance to get in this year. Janet Napolitano made it clear that the other UC’s besides Berkeley and UCLA will habe more oos students this year such as UCSD, UCI, ETC. and a cap on California students, so it will be harder for them. The UC want money!

Most of those oos are from china or South Korea. If your an oos community college student you’ll have a much harder time getting in then a California community college student this is a fact. So yes 3.7 for most of the UC’s and 3.9-4.0 for ucla or Berkeley

What source do you have @qaz1995

I’m not sure where your from but getting into a uc from a California CC is extremely difficult, because California as a whole is the best state in regards of obtaining a higher education. All of the ucs especially ucla Berkeley and ucsd are world renowned and because of that extremely qualified students apply from all over the world. Most of them coming from china and South Korea. I think it’s like 48% of students at Berkeley are Asian 46 at ucsd and 44 at ucla. So if there was a CCC student with a 3.5 and an oos student with a 3.7 they would choose the CCC student 10 out of 10 times this is a fact.

Sorry to be the downer but for the uc system to favor oos students over California residents would go against everything they supposedly stand for. Most politicians and faculty members would agree that Californians should have top priority in attending a uc or csu

You just contradicted yourself @qaz1995‌ , “getting into a uc from a California CC is extremely difficult” and “they would choose the CCC student 10 out of 10 times this is a fact”? Don’t use the phrase “this is a fact” if you cannot provide a source. Its not a fact, its your speculation.

OOS transfers are difficult to UCs, as are international transfers. However, race is not considered as an admissions factor.

Your in denial guy most people in community college aren’t the best at school so getting anywhere near a 3.5 is extremely uncommon. The UCs are the “universities of California” so it’s common sense that they would want to enroll as many qualified students from California. If you don’t get a 3.6 oos you won’t get accepted into a uc you might not even get accepted sdsu or cal poly this is a fact whether you admit it or not

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. Please refrain from posting on threads that you cannot contribute accurate information.

OP, ignore these posts. You are right to assume OOS transfers are more difficult, but they are not impossible.

Facts are indisputable pieces of data, for which there is no foreseeable alternative. Chickens lay eggs - that is a fact. Anything in regards to the admissions process is speculation- often based on previous patterns and data, but they are in no way a definitive answer for what will happen going forward.

610 students applied to ucla from oos 36 were accepted I’m done with this thread but if you think luckie1367 that you’ll get into a uc without a phenomenal gpa (3.6-4.0) your crazy

Still no source, even after two posts asking for one.

FYI, people are accepted with sub 3.5 GPAs, I’ve included the link for UCLA transfers so you can see 1) what providing a source is like, and 2) that you are wrong.

UCLA shows 1503 applicants with 153 admitted OOS with average GPA 3.65. Please see the bottom of the page:

Good luck in your endeavors @qaz1995. I wish you the best, and that’s a fact.

Average remember there are many student with above a 3.7 who got rejected, so if I were you I wouldn’t feel confident at all

Edit: NVM, I don’t want to prolong this.
