I applied to a couple of UC’s for winter 07 (I am attending a UC right now but would like to transfer two a different one). I have two questions:

I didnt write or mention anything about the reasons why I want to transfer in my application. Should I call the admissions offices and let them know why or send in additional info?

I applied to UCLA under engineering, which was the only available major. I havent taken any engineering classes what so ever, will they look down on that? If I get in, I would consider that major just because I love UCLA, but is there anything I can do assure them that I am willing to take it on?

…in my essay I only talked about my current major (Psych) so I feel like I’m screwed!

no. it nevers asks u to. they won't accept anything additional anyways.

ucla school of engineering is very hard to get in. only reason they allow winter/spring transfers is they wanna c most prereqs.

have u thought this thru? How do u go from being a psych major to an engineer?

this sounds like something i would do lol...

Transferring to a UC, ESPECIALLY UCLA engineering, requires a great deal of work and planning and forethought. You just randomly decided to apply to engineering, just because? With no engineering experience?

The reason I applied to UCLA engineering was because I really want to go to UCLA. I thought maybe there was a chance I could change my major after I got there. I know thats really really unlikely, but whats done is done.

I think you would've been better off waiting and applying for Fall. Because so much lower division work is required for acceptance to UCLA as a transfer, it isn't possible to switch majors once you're there. But yeah. I can't speak for the other schools. Good luck.

why didnt you choose easier major like Art where you could have way better chance of getting admitted? Engineering majors are some of the hardest majors to get into in UCLA.

finish your ge's at ucd because the uc's have an articulation agreement so you'll basically be done after you get into ucla. Oh and psych is a non impacted major so as long as you have a 3.5+ you're good to go. My friend had a 3.55 and was a business major (took business classes etc) but took 2 sociology classes and applied to LA as a soc major and got in. Apparently the req's for soc and psych = easy.

allie, there is actually a lot of majors u can switch into as long as u can finish the major by 205 units or something like that. I am actually strongly considering switching to sociology and i already have the dept approval.

K well let's put it this way. It's a supreme waste of time to switch majors after you've already completed lower divs. I can see maybe if the majors are close, but if it's something where youre going to have to take a whole new set of pre-reqs..ug why.

And yeah. Psych has a lot of really strict rules. No switching, no doubling if you weren't admitted to psych first, etc etc etc.
