UC Winter Transfers

Now that the Fall admissions process is nearly done for all, who here is looking to apply during the Winter quarter? What are your stats and which schools are you looking to apply to?

I don't think you can apply for winter.

Only a few universities open for winter, and they also change every year.

Yes you can apply for winter. UCI takes winter transfers. Deadline is July 31, 2006. I wish UCLA took winter transfers haha.

UC Davis also accept applicants for winter 2007

Does UCSC take winter transfers?

XXX, UCSC does usually take Winter transfers, from what I've been told. I called UCSC Admissions and the STARS program yesterday, and they said that they usually do but it varies by year. Beside the university, it also depends on the department. For my major, anthro, I called the undergrad advisor and she said that each winter there are usually a few transfers coming in. Of course, the winter transfers will always be a small minority. The vast majority transfer in fall.

As for me, I will have everything done at the end of fall semester, and don't want to sit around another 8 months at CC when I could already be at UC. I will be applying to Santa Cruz this July if they accept applications. If they don't, I will still apply and see what happens. Admissions at UCSC told me yesterday to call back in about 10 days (first week of June) and they should know by then whether we can apply for Winter.

As for the first post: my GPA is 3.2, doing the Honors Program, a few EC's, and will be IGETC certified and major prereq done by December.

i wonder how winter transfer will be different from fall? in terms of housing and meeting people

I'll will be applying to UCLA this winter as a mechanical engineering. The Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science is the only department that accepts winter and spring transfers at UCLA.

If I don't get in I'll apply to several other UC schools for the fall of 08 and perhaps a few privates if I can afford them.

im gonna be applying for winter quarter at UCI since i havent completed my 60 units yet. i only have 52 at the end of this semester and im taking 8 this summer. i have no idea how thats gonna work out though.

does anyone know if ucla accepts business transfers or econ in the winter?

The winter 2008 application period will be from July 16 – August 17, 2007.
It would be cool if Cal and UCLA accepts winter transfers for letter &science majors..

thanks!!

yeah i know :( it was definately a challenge!

major: Mechanical Engineering
prereqs- I will be done with them by the end of the fall quarter. I only have the
last physics class left after this quarter.
GPA: 3.55
Applying: UCLA

work- I have had a job for 6 months at a start up biomedical company, and I am in the middle of getting an intern at BAE for this summer. They're a large defense company.

Hopefully I can bring my GPA up a bit between spring quarter grades and summer school.

I will be applying to UCLA and UCI for the winter quarter. My major is chemical engineering.
Oxypunk- are you transferring from another UC? Also do you mind me asking about your internship? Because I split my butt looking for one and I can't seem to find any. Monstertrak.com really sucks when it comes to engineering internships.
I’m currently working at a diagnostic company which was sold to a much bigger company. So I’ll be getting laid off soon!
I'll appreciate your help.
