will grad schools look down upon the fact that you guys transfered to a UC from a community college?

and also, which gpa will they consider? the CC or UC one?

will grad schools look down upon the fact that you guys transfered to a UC from a community college?

grad schools look at all gpas. i think they calculate all of your grades into one gigantic gpa.

oh i see. thanks.

Depends on the Grad school. Some grad schools will not accept community college credit.

Unless they're elitist pricks, typically no. JC to UC is so common these days that they're accustomed to seeing it. Grad/prof. schools are mostly concerned with how well you did at your "degree granting institution." So it follows, don't get straight "A's" in JC then get worked once you're at UC--it'll look really bad.

I'm not going to risk it so I'm going to maintain a high CC GPA. Once I go to UCI in the fall, I'll be taking a bunch of non-UC transferable online courses from my current CC just to bump my GPA even higher.

That's why I was led to believe that they would only count classes that transfer--the idea of them counting a Microsoft Word class the same as a UC course in your cumulative gpa is weak.

Hahaha gabe, point taken. But then again, many of the non-UC transferable courses are transferable to CSUs and many other universities.

Well hopefully they put much more weight on real classes.

I'm thinking of taking a ton of comm college classes in the summer as opposed to being concurrently enrolled.

FYI Law Schools give you a 4.33 for A+ , but an F for a grade of No Pass, and they do not include crades of Pass/credit in the calculation.

This is a pretty interesting article and clears up all myths in general:

"A+ grades do not count for more than 4.0 in GPA calculations for medical and law school applications."

Wrong. A+=4.33. It's in the official LSAC materials. I'm not sure how much we can trust that document considering its patent error there.

really??? datz awesome....i have like lot of A+'s in my transcripts...swweeettt....

Nice info, pepsicokevodka.

About repeating courses though...How would grades be averaged if a course was repeated as P to replace an F? I'm not too worried about this since I'm not going to med or law school...But it'd be nice to know.
