So I'm planning on taking 5 classes next year, 4 of them being AP's. I want to get into one of the better UC's such as Irvine. After checking out their website, i noticed that most of the accepted students took 6 classes senior year. I really want to get into UCI, and i have the average UC g.p.a (3.95) of students accepted there, so should i take 6 classes if i want a better chance at being accepted? Also, should this extra class be a regular prep course or something easy like a teacher's aid?

It’s understandable. I have friends who are taking 4 classes and got in to the top tier UCs

S took 4 classes (2 APs, 2 regular) and 1 college class senior year, and got into Berkeley and UCLA. He did have 8 semesters of a-g from middle school that counted and had a very rigorous course-load 9-11. It was nice to have the light schedule because college applications took A LOT of time.
