I am transfering from De Anza/Foothill. I spent my first year at SDSU, but decided I would much rather attend UCLA.

The first internship I got was through sheer luck. My family randomly met a guy in the biomedical buisness, and he hooked me up after talking with me a few times. The one I am in the process of getting at a BAE is where both my parents work. In otherwords my family has been a huge help for interns.

At this point I doubt you would be able to find many inters, but you never know. Around febuary-march is the time of year to apply for interns. Just call the companies you are interested in next time around so you do not miss the application time.

transferring into engr at ucla for winter or spring quarter seems harsh, even if you have the prereqs done. In engineering, everything is in sequence, and the courses offered during the fall are not the same ones offered in winter. And the courses offered in the winter require the ones in the fall.

Well the bastards at BAE wouldn't give me the job since I am at a CC. It seemed as if it nothing to do with merit, just a lame ass policy that says we don't take interns who go are coming from a CC even if managment wants them.

Your probably right sparky123, but at this point it is my best option.

on the other hand oxy, i might be wrong, i was generalizing because i know thats the case with chemical engineering. Some of the courses in ee or mae are crosslisted.

I've been checking that ucop pathways page for weeks now and it's way past mid june and it has yet to be updated with information on open campuses/majors.

so do we basically have to call each campus up individually to find out if they're open winter admissions?

Yeah, read it carefully. They changed it to late june! I spoke with UCI and UCLA reps. and they are accepting winter transfers. I asked about engineering majors. I don't know about other majors.

Yeah I called UCSB the other day. The engineering department doesn't accept applications for the winter term. They are only open during the fall.
college of letters and science is open for the winter term. I don't know about the others.

Winter Quarter/Spring Semester 2008 Applicants
The online application will be open July 16–August 17, 2007. Check the open/closed majors link in mid-June for updated information about the campuses and programs that will be accepting applications.

Hey, this is my first post here, but I have been looking around for quite a while. I'm hoping if anyone can help me out with a question.

I would like to apply for Winter 2008 as it seems that this is the earliest I will be able to transfer to U.C. However, I am reluctant because I currently only have 18 completed units due to some problems that arose during my first semester in college. I am confident that I will be able to accumulate 60 units by the end of next summer, or at the latest Fall 2008.

My questions are,
Should I submit an application now? The deadline is August 17th I believe.

Would it be a better choice to spend an extra semester (spring 08) in school in order to write a TAG for Fall 09 to Davis? (TAGS are written in the fall and require 30 units at the time of signing for admission to the following fall quarter).

Currently I have a 3.17 GPA (Due to my time being more available now I will be able to raise this by a large margin come completion of 60 units).

I am interested primarily in UC Davis and a B.A. in Chemistry. I will be applying to schools other than Davis though, most likely those with B.A's in chemistry or a biological science.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

i'm applying as a communications major and the only school open for that for winter is UCSB which i want to go to anyways, they don't have guarantee housing for transfer until fall 08 so not sure how housing works for winter, for UCD you need a minimum gpa of 3.0 to apply except for certain majors

Heyyy I just applied to UC Irvine for Winter 2008 as a drama (with a focus on musical theater) transfer from community college. I'm really praying I get in as it's the only school in California that I am interested in for my major (everything else is east coast or chicago-ish). I'm also kicking myself because I could have applied for TAG (transfer admission gaurantee) but I only found out about it a few days ago. I totally qualify for it, except the deadline to see a conselor to sign for it has already passed. Anybody know if it is possible to apply for TAG late? Anyone else transferring as a drama major as well?
