Hey CC community, I started this thread so everyone attending Transfer Weekend 2014 can connect a little bit before we head up for a good time in Berkeley.

It would be helpful if people mention what area/community college you are transferring from so maybe people from the same school or area can make a connection.

As of this message i haven’t received any additional email or paperwork that is required.

Did you fill out something on the form that would put you on the wait list? like not be able to attend the full 3 day?
If not, then i guess we were chosen depending on our response to their questions.

What do you guys think of the questions that they asked?
Also what would everyone’s mode of transportation be?

@Loyshi I did say initially that I might have to leave an hour early, but I emailed them after that, that my schedule cleared up so…idk.

I don’t think our answers to the questions had any bearing on our selection. I think like it said that it came down to first come first serve. The questions are merely to pair us with the right people to ensure the experience is a good one.

@campfireweekend
I submitted my at like 2:30am, 30 mins after i received the email. I doubt it’s 1st come 1st serve because it does say submitting a form doesn’t guarantee.

Here’s some of my basic answers to the questions:
Not Spring Admit
College of L & S
Already SIR
Driving Self
REACH!

My email for the Transfer Weekend went to my spam folder, I just saw it a few hours ago.

I was able to access the form without a problem when I first saw the email but needed to go to an appointment with my counselor so I decided to fill out the form when I got home. I got home about an hour later and when I tried to open the link to start filling out my form it stated that the participant level was at maximum capacity. I was ultimately able to access the form and fill it out but was notified by the Transfer Weekend coordinator that I was going to be placed on the waiting list.

Needless to say, I have a glimmer of hope but I am a little upset at myself for not being more responsible and checking my spam folder daily.

Moral of the story: CHECK YOUR SPAM FOLDER!

In case I am not selected to go, hope those of you who can go have an awesome time and please let us all know it went (: It would have been good for me to go because I am so stuck between UCLA and Cal, but I suppose it happened for some greater reason.

@Loyshi I had pretty much the exact same answers as you, so it was probably the whole having to leave early thing.

I got word back from the transfer bridge people and they said this “I will note that you can stay for the duration of the program, but I cannot guarantee that will move you from the waitlist to the accepted list.”

@Loyshi I think the questions were def meant to partner us up with the “right” person in order to make our experience memorable. you have to remember that this is as much a recruitment event as it is a “fun” event. im totally expecting them to show us the absolute best time they can haha.

and just checking in, I’m from Southern Cali (name says it all I guess) and I decided to join in on taking the charter bus from Union Station instead of driving. Figured it would give me more time to meet and greet with my potential competit…I mean classmates : ].

@campfireweekend I hope they get back to you!

Since I’m from Norcal, I’ll probably have to drive my van and not my new one considering Berkeley’s not the best place to leave your car in the open for a few nights… I don’t even know if we can park overnight.

Sounds like I’m the only one from Norcal and on CC atm

@Loyshi I was seriously considering driving up there from LA but like you said 1)NOT the safest area overnight and 2) Ive heard pretty bad stories about the parking as well. As a matter of fact the whole parking situation as UCB is going to be a pain in my arse since I was fully intending on having a car up there…I’ve heard you have to get a permit with the city, and parking is a hassle, and etc. Basically not the best idea.

@SoCalLife310
That’s why i had to include hella in the last comment. Considering i moved to Norcal as a kid, that word just somehow gets mixed into your vocab. Maybe you too can convert yourself after 2 years at Cal.

Have you received any email updates from Bridge regard the schedule?

Lol I’ve heard that as well…it just somehow finds its way in your everyday speech. Maaaybe. But I’m a SoCal native through and through so I’m resistant to that idea. I’m totally planning on bringing and frequently wearing my Dodgers gear, Clippers gear, Kings gear…haha.

And nope. Not a word. Although I feel like we will receive an email around 3am-ish like the confirmation?
