@tennisninja Yes they do verify all grades I believe. They won’t re calculate your UC GPA based on senior grades, so it won’t have any impact there. Since they focus on your primary application and UC GPA, I don’t think it is pivotal.
I would still report it because it’s better to not get off the wait-list at all and already be committed to another school than to be admitted off the wait-list, cancel your SIR at another and then get rescinded because they don’t like your grades because then you have no where to go.
@goodperson200@Gumbymom Since reporting 7th semester grades is optional, do you think it would be detrimental towards my waitlist application if I didn’t submit my grades/reported my classes, but not my 7th semester grades?
@tennisninja: Is there a reason you do not want to submit 7th semester grades? Since they are optional, you have that option of not submitting them, but admissions may wonder why you did not report them. Adding to their doubt, may not help your chances off the waitlist.
The 12th grades are for making sure that you’ve maintained at least a 3.0 unweighted GPA and no Ds and Fs. (And also to make sure you didn’t get more than one C, though I’m not 100% sure if that applies to Berkeley or not).
Your application has already been determined, and that is that you’re in - but just that there isn’t enough room. At this point I think the main thing that UCB is gauging is your interest level. So providing them everything that they ask for is in effect showing your interest.
@ProfessorPlum168 Wow thank you so much for that insight! I didn’t think of it that way. I will just upload an unofficial transcript since I’m taking 8 classes and there are only 6 spots for courses/grades.
@Gumbymom@ProfessorPlum168 Can you shed some light on what exactly 7th semester grades mean. Are these the grades in the last transcript we received (in Fall) or the current grades on the the high school portal which can fluctuate from week to week? I guess the 8th semester grade will be the ones on the final high school transcript at the end of the year.
@UniDaddy, if the HS is on a semester system, then the Fall Senior grades. Trimester, it could be Fall and Winter grades. Basically it would any Senior grades present on the official HS transcript as of today.
Hi everyone, I’m new to CC here. Got waitlisted for the public health major in l&s. My twin sister was accepted and will be attending. @Gumbymom do you think it would be a good idea if I could call the admissions office and explain to them that I am interested in ucb and would want to be with my sister?
Hi, everyone. Does anyone know when the first wave of admitted people are gonna get noticed? Cuz based on last year’s thread, there were multiple waves.
I got wait-listed for the College of Letters and Science (Political Science).
I have an In-state 4.1 GPA, 1420 SAT, and impeccable extracurricular accolades and leadership positions (Speech and Debate, Political Advocacy Club, National Honor Society). Also low-income and first generation.
I wrote about Speech and Debate accolades I’ve earned in my senior season and personal struggles (I’m low-income and first gen). Mine is very personalized.
I got a C in a college-level math class first semester, and i took 8 classes. For the waitlist form, it only allows you to manually put in grades for 6 classes. Do you think it would be fine for me to just omit the two lowest grade classes from the grades I report, or should I submit an unofficial transcript? this scares me though, since I’m pretty sure that the only reason they waitlisted me was due to my grades (there is nothing else that was weak about my application, literally just my GPA). And I talked about how I had all A’s so far in senior year by the time I applied, but this will not be reflected in the grades I submit for 7th semester  I’m not sure what to do, since I heard some people didn’t even report their 7th semester grades and got in, but it might be taking a risk since they might want to see my grades to see if they improved from my previous years. What do you guys think I should do?
I’m not sure what the right answer is wrt what to submit. Did you call admissions and get an opinion from them? Or maybe better to email and get a written answer.
Hey guys. I submitted the wait list opt-in form about a week ago, but I find I can still edit the form now and there is an update button at the end of the form, so I make a small change to update my information. However, they said that once the form was submitted, changes could not be made. I’m really confused. Now the time mark beside the form is 4/16(which is after the deadline) after I made that change. I’m wondering will this affect my application? Thanks!
@midchilda I would definitely call the admissions office and ask about making new changes to the form.
Btw, has anyone seen the released common data set for 2018-2019 yet? Apparently, last year 4,127 people opted in to the waitlist, and 1,536 were admitted- that’s a 37.2% acceptance rate! So there’s still hope!
