***UCB Class of 2023 Freshman Waitlist Discussion/Stats***

@StanfordOrBust19 I was waitlisted also for CNR. What major did you select? Mine was genetics and plant biology

there’s not a lot of activity on here compared to last years- surprising!

Ngl, based off the activity in this thread assumed they waitlisted less people this year. Is that a bad thing?

I was waitlisted for undeclared social sciences.
33 ACT
4.3 Weighted GPA
3.91 Unweighted GPA

Submitted an essay and all of my updated grades. Fingers crossed!

@CrayonShinChan cnr here too !

Hmmm i noticed that too—past years had 10-25 pages of comments up to April 23, while we’re just on page 5. Maybe if the waitlist was more selective this year, we would have higher chances of getting accepted?

yeah- UCLA’s waitlist is also dead as well. not sure what’s up with the waitlists this year but i hope it’s favorable for us.

Several people got off UCLA waitlist today.

very interesting what is going on at UCLA. Are their yields that low? Or maybe more people are being courteous than usual, and telling UCLA that they’re going to another school.

I would assume that Berkeley’s yield would be worse this year. coupled with the fact that the waitlisted pool might be smaller. I predict a higher waitlist acceptance rate than last year.

There’s also the 2.5% decrease in applicants so the yield might be unpredictable for them too.

@kibbles oh wow. Yup!

Anyone know when to expect the first wave?

I’m pretty sure that it’ll be around the first Friday of May, so ~May 3rd

I’m thinking there’s low activity since no one’s going to hear until after May 1st (although noted that there was UCLA activity) so there’s not much to report.

Does anyone know how long you have to decide yes or no to Cal IF you are taken off the waitlist and admitted in?

7 days

I was admitted off of UCLA’s waitlist yesterday, but Cal was/is still my top choice. If (and only if) I eventually get into Cal, I now feel a little bit conflicted. I have heard so many people talking about how hyper competitive and stressful Cal is compared to UCLA. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Have you visited both campuses ?

No matter where you all end up, please take time to release spots at schools you DO NOT plan to attend. There are thousands of students waitlisted and waiting with fingers crossed…

anyone else OOS waitlisted for EECS? 3.98 UW GPA, 1580 SAT, okay ECs/essays. Low chances but praying for the best
