Man this is so frustrating its a 2 month grueling wait and end up with a rejection and i am not in love with my second choice at all… I got into another school that I really love (UT Austin) but it is out of state for me and my mom doesn’t like it and it is pretty expensive so I had to decline my acceptance(I already put down my deposit and withdrew it on may 1st) and had to to go UCSD which is like 15 minute away from home which is way too close for me. Going to a local school make me feel like my parents are right on my butt looking over every single move i make. ahhh it is so annoying idk what to do but thank you for listening to my rant.
I was talking to somebody and they said that Berkeley College of Engineering has over-enrolled the past couple years, so this year was way harder. can anybody confirm this?
@ysong20 I’m also going to UCSD which is like 15 minutes from my house, but I’d much rather go to Cal.
exactly bro going to local school feels like you are still in high school but just changed school.
@ysong20 Yeah but looking at the positives, you won’t have to pay for room and board
@seniorturtle honestly I could care less about money when i know the next four years of my life is going to be boring af and socially dead… not saying UCSD isnt great but going to a school 10 minutes away from your high school really don’t hype me up.
@“Commie scum” my son went through that exact situation last year and I remember it took a while (couple weeks?) for FA to get all situated. His said Spring only too. I think he had to wait until FPF confirmed his acceptance in program or something like that
Then you choose between those you aren’t being offered traditional
A couple things:
-
if “no one” has gotten in for OOS L&S then how is this reddit poll saying 50/50. Either there have been OOS L&S or, they’re saving the biggest group for later and all the OOS students are from less-in-demand colleges and majors such as linguistics. (This can also mean that all the in-demand seats filled up lol and we’re screwed-the fact that we actually have an OOS EECS means that they were considering in-demand majors and their rarity of waitlist acceptance can only mean there were very few seats to fill)

If I’m not wrong, last year (and I know we shouldn’t depend so much on last year but its all we have), there was a wave of IS students before the 7th. It was a much smaller wave compared to the eventual “first wave”. So maybe an OOS heavy wave is coming in a couple days?

I think for L&S they actually consider the major you intend to pursue. So has anyone International got in for L&S Economics? (Intended for Haas).
Did any internationals get into CNR off the waitlist? My decision faq is still regarding the waitlist, so are my chances now very low?
Does any L&S out of state CS students accept?
I saw on reddit a few OOS L&S acceptances… even someone accepted for L&S CS as an OOS. I’m starting to lose hope now.
I only saw one person. Hopefully we still have a chance of getting in. I’ve seen 0 L&S Physics or Math which is really sad
Has the result of Chemistry College come out? I wish that they’ll finally accept someone in the second wave…
@AutumnRoses At the campus I chose, the housing application form specifically states that the housing deposit is refundable except for $75. If I get off the Berkeley waitlist, I won’t feel too bad about the loss of my attendance deposit and housing deposit.
Does Berkeley offer Engineering Undeclared to waitlist candidates, or are they exclusively direct admit? I sure hope direct admit… I don’t think I could “yes” a position where I run the risk of being unable to study my preferred major.
Any word from engineers? Has the college of engineering even sent out a waitlist wave yet?
don’t loose hopes now, next Tuesday is a big day for you
But it’s supposedly a much smaller wave than this first one…?
I got in yesterday for L&S comp sci!
@compSciLover Congrats! Are you instate?
