<p>So I know that UCB accepts by college rather than by a specific major (with the exception of engineering, haas, etc.) but do they SOLELY accept you based on the college, or do they actually take the major into consideration as well? For example, if I apply as a latin american studies major, since its not as impacted as other majors do they take that into consideration during the process? (For the record I'm not a latin american studies major lol, just speaking on hypothetical terms)</p>
<p>No, they consider the major that you apply. You may possibly switch your major after you’re admitted in the college of letters & science, but seats for impacted majors are very limited (says UCB), and you definitely need to have all major classes done before you declare the major.</p>
<p>thanks! that’s what I thought as well…but i just didn’t understand why they admitted by college then rather than by major? esp if we have junior standing and have to declare a major before entering…</p>
