What makes the acceptance rate so high for UC Berkeley’s TAP students? Some feedback from former TAP students would also be very helpful.
That’s the million dollar question as it supposedly does not give priority. 
I am currently a TAP student and so far it has mostly been advice and insider info. They are also letting me take a Political Science class at UCB this summer so I’m sure that will be a boost. They also offer to read essays so Im sure they taylor them to be what they want to hear.
