I applied to UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, UCR, UCSC, UCD, and UCI for neuroscience major. I am an undocumented student, and I am also an untraditional student who had a 5 year break after graduating high school because undocumented students were not allowed to go to college in Nevada. I have a 4.0 GPA on everything. However, I will probably miss one prerequisite course (Organic Chemistry I) because my community college will not offer it in Spring 2014. I will try to take in at another college, but as a freshman there, I am not sure if I can get the class. What chance do I have to get into UCLA or UCB, if I miss the first semester of O Chem?

I also tagged TAG UCSD.

I am a member of Alpha Gamma Sigma and Phi Theta Kappa.

My personal statement was strong. I talked about the difficulties of being an undocumented student and how I overcame the difficulties by getting a 4.0 GPA. I let the UCLA and UCI representatives read my personal statements when they came to my school. They actually like it.

I’m not sure. Neuroscience is impacted at some of these schools, but given your CC’s lack of O chem classes and your special background, as well as your stellar GPA, I think your chances are still very good.

Missing one of your O-chems is not going to impact your chances. When it comes to missing pre-reqs missing 3 is the magic number. If you are missing more than 3 pre-requequisites then it will start to affect you negatively. now if you were missing you general chem or the math then it would be a problem, but you are good to go.

One word of advice, try to finish O-chem before going to UC. Taking Ochem at UCLA is a *****, too many of my friends struggle with the class and they regret not taking it at CC.

Not that I want to prop a certain school just because I go there, but did you know that:

Also UCLA has the famous club IDEAS, which is the leading Student-run University club in the nation that advocates for AB 540 students. [IDEAS | IDEAS at UCLA](<a href=“Besten Lösungen online”>Besten Lösungen online)
They have been fighting for students rights and advocated for students to be eligible for state financial aid [IDEAS | IDEAS at UCLA](<a href=“Besten Lösungen online”>Besten Lösungen online). If you compare AB 540 students between now and a year ago I can tell you there is a huge difference. Consider yourself lucky that you qualify for the Gold and Blue plan [Blue and Gold Opportunity Plan | UC Admissions](http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/paying-for-uc/glossary/blue-and-gold/), previous generation of students had to figure out ways to pay for tuition every quarter. Couple of my friends took forever in graduating because they had skip every other semester so they work and save up for tuition.

lastly, your chances are… Berkeley and UCLA 90%, the rest 99%

aren’t u glad that u wont be a fighting Rebel or a Wolfpack??

Cayton: Thanks for saying it! Because I was told by the UCLA representative that they will not admit me if I don’t finish the first semester of O Chem.

Dagoberto: Thanks so much for your reply! I appreciate it! I am actually not eligible for AB540, and I have the financial issue because I have to pay the non-resident tuition. I am hoping the scholarships can help me with the grades I got. People never understand how difficult to overcome the difficulties of an undocumented student. I have not seen my parents for over seven years. But, I’m glad I overcame it. I am thinking of going back to my home country after getting a bachelor degree.
In Nevada, I was not even allowed to go to a community college. Neither Rebel nor Wolfpack was a choice :/
