UCB/UCLA Regents and Chancellor Scholarship

If you have received, applied, or want to get the scholarship, what were your qualifications?
I want to be awarded the scholarship and want to see how good other students are.
I will have a 3.94 gpa by the time i transfer, will graduate with honors from a CCC (SF), community volunteer/work, full time worker, overcame adverse life circumstances, and will face the impossibility of attending UCB if I am not awarded the scholarship because I will not be able to pay for it, also will be 24 y.o by the time start at UCB or UCLA

At 24, you should be independent of your parents for college financial aid purposes. Assuming that you are a California resident with no or very low income, regular financial aid at UCs without the Regents’ scholarship should give you a net price of $8,520 at Berkeley, $8,600 for UCLA, and similar amounts for other UCs. This is the amount they expect you to self-fund with a direct loan and work earnings. It is replaced by additional grant or scholarship if you get a Regents’ scholarship.

I have a special circumstance where i’m seen as oos even.though I live in CA. also can’t get any state or federal.aid so I really want.the scholarship

I’m fairly sure it’s not a choice of applying for the scholarship, as in when you apply to UCB, if you’re eligible for the scholarship, they will let you know and call you in for an interview.

yes I have heard that, I just want to know what are the qualifications of others who were granted the scholarship

Sorry, don’t know any transfer students who’ve gotten it so I can’t tell you much about that, for first year applicants the trend I remember is nearly perfect gpa, w ~4.6, higher than 2200 SAT and leadership roles. The regents is a pretty tough scholarship to get, but you’re graduating cc with a pretty high gpa and honors, if the only EC’s you have are volunteering and work though I’d say that’s a negative.

I agree it might be a bit hard. Our S got in there for engineering interviewed for a couple scholarships at the school received none. I’m borrowing against my retirement for now. We’ll see the following years. He was a 3.90 student 2100 SAT and 34 ACT with APs he was around a 4.6 UC GPA. He took every possible AP at his school he had like 9 5s and 1 4 on his APs. Nada. He won Berkeley’s pioneer in engineering robotics competition and started FIRST robotics at his school still nada.

My daughter had ACT score of 35, Weighted GPA of 3.6 (un weighted 4.0), 5 AP’s, two subject SAT’s (>750). Lot of extracurricular activities.
This was 6 yrs ago, and I was told that they offer about 2000 applicants to become Regents and Chancellor scholars (letters come sometime in February). But only about 200 get selected (accept) after the interviews.
