food fight !?

Food fight!!!

anyone go to Decision Day? The student panel was also identical to Discover UCD back in March lol. But it was an awesome day weather-wise to walk around campus and rez halls. Can’t wait to go back for orientation.
Also there are some cute guys, especially around the ARC. ;)

Is anyone looking at the Viridian housing? It looks pretty nice and splitting a 2 bedroom would be cost effective if someone was interested… . *bats eyelashes

What’s up people? I just sir’d to Davis today. Don’t know if I should live in Cuatro or the Ramble… My dad wants me to meet new people, but I like having my own bathroom.

BTW, the only aid I’m eligible for is a full pell grant and a full subsidized student loan which comes out to $11K. I don’t know about cal grants yet. It’s showing that I need to come up with a little over $12K for the rest of the expenses. Does this sound right?

lelandman: What’s your residency status and EFC?

The Viridian and Ramble are very expensive. There are other apartment complexes in Davis that provide you for your own bathroom and is cheaper. Davis actually has A LOT of apartment complexes available.

bakemaster: I’m a U.S. citizen and a resident of CA. My EFC is 60.

Hmm. From what you’ve said, it sounds like you should qualify for additional grant money under the Blue & Gold plan. Do you meet all the eligibility requirements mentioned on [this web page](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/paying-for-uc/financial-aid/grants/blue-gold/index.html)?

bakemaster! I got a Cal Grant B Transfer Entitlement Award. Do you know how this is going to affect my financial aid?

I don’t know if it’ll end up improving your overall aid package or not, but it certainly won’t hurt. My guess is they’ll reduce your scholarship by the same amount as the grant, which doesn’t really change things in any way that’s relevant to the student.

What if our CAL grant > Davis’ UG Scholarship?

bakemaster: Yes, although I had not filled out the fafsa by March 2 because I thought, like the cal grant, the blue and gold award deadline would be in sept. for transfer students.

Yeah, my CAL grant is > than my UG scholarship, but the CAL grant is supposed to be disbursed over two years. I * really * hope that it increases my financial aid package, because that would be sweet. Alas, I agree, it will probably just end up reducing my UG scholarship by ~$6 grand and replacing it with the CAL grant. sigh I emailed the UC Davis financial aid department and asked them about it but they haven’t given me any info yet. I will post their response as soon as I get it!

Where does it say that it gets disbursed over 2 years? Because when you view it. You’re viewing the 2011-2012 year.

Bringing this thread back from the boneyard to ask if anyone was taking Summer session 1 & 2?

I see they offer Organic Chemistry…*ponders

Anyone know if it’s possible to switch majors before fall starts? I accidentally put myself as a CSE major as opposed to an EE.

@fierce - If they let you take summer courses as an incoming transfer, I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t start knocking out OChem. Just be sure and take it by itself, no classes on top of it. I never had to take it as a mechanical engineer, but OChem sounds like hell.

@Silent, you’re allowed to petition to change your major during the fall quarter. During orientation, just let your advisor know you’re planning on changing majors so that you can sign up/plan for classes in EE.

@hesdjjim – have you taken classes at Davis during the summer? Are they intense? I’m thinking about taking Physics 9B during summer session one and Physics 9C during the second summer session so I can knock both of those classes out during the summer…but, physics is my worst subject so doing that kind of scares me.
