Ucd class of 2024 discussion thread

I’m mildly in shock.

UC Davis actually took me? I was just able ready to call it quits and prepare myself for community college lol (still had a slight hope for UCR), I did not take school seriously and I was feeling that when decisions were coming out.

For those of you with a < 3.4 UW GPA and multiple Cs on your report card, apparently they still can take you! Keep your hopes up!

other stats
SAT: 1590
took 9 APs, 7 5s and 2 4s

had bad grades because I was too lazy to do homework a lot of the time, I wasn’t mature (and still am not) and I thought school was useless (and I honestly still feel the same way…)

thank goodness APs are super lenient with their grading

still have no idea why they took me, my essays weren’t good either

I’m not complaining tho

I got in! Don’t know what for yet but I got the congrats email!:heart:

@Gumbymom When will UCD Regents Scholarship come out? Thank you!

If you log onto your portal, it will say whether you were offered Regents and/or honors.

@nella2024: Regents comes out at the same time as your decison which is today.

My daughter got in.
We are deciding between CSULB and UC Davis now. Not at all sure what to do. She got declined today from SDSU.

How do you log in?

@lkg4answers @Gumbymom Thank you. Is it together with the admission letter? I looked at the portal, the admission letter is followed by the “Your personalized UC Davis financial aid offer is still being prepared. Check back here soon.”

D got in
4.0uw/4.2 capped
33 ACT

Her friend also got accepted
4.0uw/4.2 capped
1190 SAT
She received the supplemental questionnaire due to a hardship. Sharing because it might be encouraging news for next years applicants.

Congrats to everyone accepted! Here are my stats, if they can be of any help to people. If you didn’t get in/waitlisted YOU ARE STILL VALID AND YOUR CAPABILITIES ARE NOT DIMINISHED. Don’t let a college admission decision define you!

Reflection
Strengths: grades, test scores, a strong commitment to STEM, probably also being a female and minority I guess
Weaknesses: didn’t have a lot of major awards, summer activities were kind of lacking
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: I was unique in my essays, I feel like they definitely showed my personality…

It says FINANCIAL AID & AWARD INFORMATION and has two navy blue bars under it. Just under the navy blue bar where it says your financial aid offer is still being prepared is a second navy blue bar that says, “You have been awarded a $30,000 Regents scholarship!”

@nella2024: It should be on the student portal with your decision. I do not have access to the student portals so I would suggest you PM @mwt2020 since they posted that they had received Regents and tell you where on the portal too look. Financial aid may take a few weeks to post.

@nella2024 my portal says the same thing, so we might just have to wait a bit

Make sure you join the** UC Davis Freshman Class of 2024 (Official)** Facebook page that is run by UC Davis Undergraduate Admissions.

There is another FB page run by a third party not affiliated with UC Davis. Last month, before admissions were announced, they added 300 members who are NOT students to make it look active. Don’t post any personal information on that FB page.

@lkg4answers: Thank your for the Regents notification and Facebook information.

hey Nella, I’m in the same boat as you. I got regents & deans from uci but no word from Davis. I got into Davis but my financial aid is still processing so idk if I got regents or not. I’ve heard some people had processing financial aid and still got regents notification so :frowning:

@SadiaDaBomb Thanks for letting me know. I heard UCD grants very few Regents so probably not then. Are you also in CS?

Daughter was denied.
3.78 UW GPA
29 ACT
Psychology Major

It’s been a tough week with no word from Cal Poly SLO (looks like a denial) and this denial. Hoping for an acceptance to UCI but not betting on it. Looks like she will likely be deciding between CSULB and Sonoma State.

Alright so mixed results today. While I got in, yay, my twin sister did not. I’ll be posting some stats here.

I believe that it is because of her competitive major that she didn’t get it. Otherwise, it makes no sense to me.

The information is at UCD portal. Regards award is not on the letter; it is shown on portal status.
