I'm torn between UCSD and UCD, but I am giving UCI another shot. What do you think? Yes I have been admitted to all three.

UCI > UCSD

don’t know anything about UCD though.

Why is that?

I mean as in why do you put UCI better than UCSD?

This is just my opinion.

I got admitted to both colleges out of high school and had to make the same decision. I visited UCSD and thought the campus sucked. While I love sprawling grass fields and trees on college campuses, UCSD’s campus was too brown and not that attractive. I wasn’t in love with the college system, especially since I got put into Revelle which required me to do a whole lota GPA reducing classes. I switched to Muir but I still felt the college system isolated the student body…especially when my friends were across campus in “Sixth College”. Finally, UCSD’s administration is uptight and annoying. This is evidenced by their stupid impacting of science majors (which they finally got rid off this year), uptight housing policy, along with many other things. I got a feel for this when I was making this decision but this has also been backed up by my friends who chose to go to UCSD.

btw: I switched from revelle college to muir college through a glitch in the system…they wouldn’t let me do it through the administration even though Muir had a million spots open.

UCI has a nicer campus, is very relaxed, academically easier (I think), and is on par with the “prestige” of UCSD. In regards to recognition, if people know what UCSD is, they will most likely know what UCI is. I don’t know where you live, but for me UCI is only 35 minutes away compared to UCSD’s 2 hour distance so that was also a positive.

Of course, it’s all subjective. UCSD is a good school. Choose whatever fits you best.

Uh, if you are not someone that is already living in / from Orange County like the above poster, I think you’d be better off at SD or Davis location-wise. I think compared to SD and Irvine, Davis is a much much much more socially active campus. SD and Irvine are both very quiet. SD location is way better than Irvine, unless like I said maybe you’re from the OC and want to stick around. Obviously, SD is the most prestigious out of the three. If you’re looking for a college town and college experience, I’d pick Davis. If you’re looking for a more relaxed situation, stay in and study, maybe go out every once in a while type of thing, I’d pick San Diego. The only reason I would pick Irvine is if you were doing a major that they specialize in that is not offered somewhere else, like Criminology or something. Irvine is not fun.
