UCSD or UCD for Psychology BA?

Okay so I have a better layout about what to consider:

I am more academic, participation, and connections oriented student than athletics, greek life, and "hot chicks/guys" oriented student. I value a lot laboratory and hands on participation and academic stuff. However I also value variety and exploration of different fields and perspectives.

I love the idea of a college town, I love forests more than the ocean. I grew up in both Northern and Southern California. However I love that UCSD has a greater variety of Psychology courses to choose from like Impulse Control Disorders and even a class examining Psychology of art. UC Davis on the other hand has less required classes for the major and thus give me more room to squeeze in about 2 minors or even a double major.

I am really not into sports and school spirit kinda annoys me. Prestige on the other hand gets you places.

I like feeling like in a tight-knit community of students and being heard and being important and able to influence others.

I like having to form connections with others that can take me further in life and develop connections and being acquainted and close to my professors.

I like having classes that are not too far apart from each other.

I like knowing that I go to a place with a distinguished and high-achieving alumni.

Now if only I could put UCD and UCSD in a mixing thingamagij but sadly can't.

BTW I am a transfer student, california resident, 3.75 GPA and I am fine with statistics but not so much with calculus(I struggled to get a B in pre-calc). I also want to resolve my issues with independent living that I have so I may need to do that slowly. I wonder which campus has transfer housing where you get your own bathroom.

Ill try to answer (As I was contemplating on UCD/UCSD)

I am more academic, participation, and connections oriented student than athletics, greek life, and “hot chicks/guys” oriented student. - UCSD

I value a lot laboratory and hands on participation and academic stuff. - CSU (to be honest)

I love the idea of a college town, I love forests more than the ocean. - UCD

I am really not into sports and school spirit kinda annoys me. Prestige on the other hand gets you places. - UCSD Def.

I like feeling like in a tight-knit community of students and being heard and being important and able to influence others. - Depends. UCSD has different colleges which can bring more tight knit groups. UCD is a college town, so more chance to meet more people.

I like having to form connections with others that can take me further in life and develop connections and being acquainted and close to my professors. - Any UC as long as you meet your professor privately is fine

I like having classes that are not too far apart from each other. - UCSD (UCD has a LARGE campus)

I like knowing that I go to a place with a distinguished and high-achieving alumni. - UCSD has a bit more prestige behind it

I wonder which campus has transfer housing where you get your own bathroom. - Live off campus or a student apartment. Most offer your own room + bathroom. Its cheaper than a dorm (I pay around 600-700$, got my own room + restroom)

Overall, Id say UCSD due to the prestige. UC Davis is a great school, it was my choice, however I figured I’d have a harder time at UCSD (Classwork and loadwork is more intense) and I wanted to minor in education on the spare time (UC Davis requires 11 classes for my major, UCSD requires 23, YIKES!)

Yeah that’s an issue with UCSD. UCSD has some really great professors that I would look forward to working with, but they hardly teach any classes, and those classes appear probably once a year or so and only once. UCSD does not offer multiple classes per course which bugs me since it means less schedule flexibility. Most of the Psych classes at UCSD I noticed are taught by professors not on the faculty list, maybe they’re assistants or TAs?

UCD seems to offer a more hands-on approach, they really really emphasized research and internship experience. The university was founded on hands-on experience. However only 2-3 faculty members are interesting to me and one doesn’t have a class listing.

Also I was told that UCSD’s classes are far apart unlike UCD’s buildings which are tucked up at the North of the campus. I have visited both campuses and it does seem so. The Social Science building and the Young Hall are next to each other, and they in turn are close to the food area and CAPS and the Financial Advisor. Another brief walk takes you to the Silo area. However it was tiring to go from the North to the South area of the campus. Meanwhile it was exhausting to go from the Price center to the Psychology department center at UCSD.

I noticed that neither Berkeley nor Davis offer courses in behavioral Psychology or those rare, in-depth classes offered at UCSD. Davis seems to have a lot of Social and Bio Psychology while Berkeley has a Clinical Psychology focus.

Also I have to take 6 more classes if I go to UCSD than if I did for UCD. They are Scientific Logic, 1 quarter of Calculus, another Science class(the only non-physics non-Chemistry class that fulfulls this seems kinda boring and I dunno if I already got credit for it), A programming class that can be filfilled with just a tech literacy course, another Psychology class, and CAT 125(I got into Sixth college) and also add to that my Sixth College Practicum, which can be fulfilled with an internship.
