Hello,

I already searched the forum about this but was unable to come up with a solid answer. I was wondering which part of IGETC can be completed using Pass/No Pass (Credit/No Credit) grading. Also, I remember reading about a 14-unit maximum. Since it is a TAG, taking up to 14 units shouldn't have an affect on acceptance, right? I'm not talking about classes for my major, just IGETC areas in general.

The reason I ask is that I want to complete a portion of the rest of my classes with cr/nc in order not to jeopardize the contract.

Thanks,
Sammy

For admissions purposes only 14 of the 60 may be taken Pass/No Pass. However, this is only to meet the UC Transfer Eligibility Requirements. Taking courses Pass/No Pass is very tricky; you need to make sure the course can still be used for IGETC with your community college (they are the ones that certify the IGETC not the UC campus) and you need to make sure the course will still meet your UC graduation requirements. It is advised to research with academic advisers before taking a course Pass/No Pass since you don't want to have issues after the admissions process.

Thanks for the response.

So let's say I did choose to take a class as P/NP, and I ended up getting a NP in a class. Would this terminate the TAG? I heard from my counselor that if you had a D or an F it will be terminated, but I was never told how NP's are counted against the TAG.

Thanks,
Sammy

A NP is roughly equivalent to an F or a D, so it makes sense that it would terminate the TAG.
