UCD vs UCLA? STEM major

Hi everyone, i've been going back and forth between these two schools since Friday. I submitted a TAG for UCD and was really set on going there since it's more cost effective because it's not too far from home (I live in NorCal and UCD is about 2 hours away from me, while UCLA is about a 7/8 hour drive south). I was taking classes at a JC for about 5 years and am not one to bother about partying, etc. since I think i've had enough of that scene for now ;) I'm quite sociable and plan to live on campus for the first year, but just want to enjoy the other perks that come with these schools, namely opportunities in the health field.

I plan on visiting both of the schools, but I can only go towards the end of May when my finals/midterms are over which makes me nervous because it is pretty close to the SIR date :( . I know UCLA is in the city and UCD is a bit more of a town but could someone describe the "vibe" of each campus? How the people are? (friendly, serious, hopefully very approachable and helpful? lol) Can anyone give me some insight about what it takes to score an internship at these schools, and overall, make the best out of the two years there?

Any helpful on campus clubs/resources for transfer students or students in the STEM field?
Im the first in my family to go to college and am really nervous about taking upper division courses, finding places to volunteer/intern, and overall, find my place on campus. I would love to hear from fellow transfer students (and if possible, STEM majors!) about your experience.

Any advice you have is greatly appreciated! Thanks so much

Im a UCLA math/econ major. I can tell you that being a South Campus (STEM) major @UCLA aint easy. Especially for transfer students who have to take upper-division classes right out the gate. The STEM Transfer Club (STC) was recently formed at UCLA. we formed STC because we feel that our voice needs to be heard. check it out <a href=“UCLA STEM Transfer Community | Facebook”>www.facebook.com/groups/566301816809969/

Hi @Dagoberto‌ , thanks for the reply; I’d love to find out more about STC but I think there’s something going on with the link. I was able to find the STEM Transfer Community Facebook page though, is it the same group you’re talking about?

yes, that the correct link… feel free to ask questions… we are answering questions for newbie South Campus
Transfer students
