Well, this is my first post here but i've been googling around and this forum seems to be the most informative.

Anyways, I'm currently a UCD (bio sci) student and have been admitted to UCLA (chemistry). I already submitted my SIR to LA but as the year's approaching to its end, I'm having second thoughts. I originally applied to transfer because my social life went down the hole beginning of sophomore year. However, that isn't the case anymore.

Since I'm intending on applying to med schools, I am aware that undergrad isn't as important. So the reason I am so stuck is because of several reasons

1) I love davis. contrary to popular belief, davis is a great place. Yeah it doesnt have the 'places' like LA or NY but life is what you make of it. I have very close friends (church friends in particular). The community is just really positive and awesome. Sorry, i don't know how else to explain it but what I'm pretty much trying to say is, my social life is more than what I can ask for.

2) I am im 4/5 done with my bio-sci major and im barely finishing as a sophomore which is great compared to most other student who usually get as for as I did until their end of junior year.
**If I were to transfer, I'd probably have to retake a lot of courses. I know my units will transfer but after talking to one of the UCLA counseler, she made it sound like a lot of Davis courses wont transfer to their major requirements. Ie. davis physics isn't same as la physics, therefore, even if i finished physics series at davis, ill still have to retake 2of3 of la physics.

3) Familiarity. I know the campus, study places, etc...

The only reasons I want to go to UCLA is
1) Learning experience. I'd love to learn at a place like LA
2) Bigger and better medical center. Other big LA hospitals to get intern/volunteer opportunities
3) Name
4) Im from socal so I'll get to be closer to home/family.
edit:
5) I know a lot of HS friends who are either at la or have been admitted there and right now I'm planning on living with one of them, so I won't be too socially new.

I know from that list, davis definitely has the upper hand. But I definitely take academics as priority. So how important do you guys think it is for me to learn at a place like LA to prepare me for grad school? And is it really worth going to UCLA for its med center?

Thanks!
