UCF Housing Nike/Hercules Questions

I have yet to apply for housing because i wasnt sure whether i wanted to live on campus or not. i am going to apply for housing tonight as i have beena accepcted since october. My question is i am thinking about nike and herc. Can anyone share their experience there. Also, what are my chanes of getting the residence hall there if i apply this week. And say i get in there how easy is it to be roomed with a friend if you both preference each other? thanks

My son is currently living in Nike and really likes the location, close to his classes, except for the Communications building, close to the gym and pool as well as the Marketplace (food)!!! If you both put your preference for roommates, you should have no problem.

Are you starting in the summer or fall? The reason I’m asking is that this summer, the Marketplace will be closed for renovations and food for the meal plan will be at Knightros, by the Towers. I suggest you try Lake Claire or Towers if you are going up in the summer. As far as the fall, Nike/Hercules are the newest, and you will have no problem in rooming with a friend as long as both of you fill out the forms correctly with your NID number. If you want a room of your own in a 4/2 – then again, I suggest Lake Claire. There are single rooms in 4/2’s at Nike/Hercules, but they are harder to come by. Towers has 4/2 and 4/4 units – a little more pricey and the term is an 11 mos. contract, which is great if you are going to be there for Fall/Spring/Summer. Good luck with your decision.

Just something that aventuramom didnt specify on, Nike/Hercules only offers residence hall style dorms for freshmen. The 2/1 and 4/2 apartments in Nike/Hercules are for upperclassmen ONLY as they are the slightly cheaper alternative to Towers for upperclassmen who wish to remain on campus. Lake Claire offers apartments for freshman, though.

My daughter lived there in the residence hall style dorms her freshman year and in the apartments in her sophomore year. Great dorms.

With a housing date stamp this late in the game there is a good chance that you will not get your first choice of housing.
As far as getting your friend for a roommate, that shouldn’t be a problem.
