Yeah yeah another common housing question

So I know tons of people always ask about housing and which is better but for some reason the search forum button is being difficult ;)

I’m basically torn between Towers and Nike/Hercules…originally in January, I was signed up for Nike/Hercules for fall and spring, but then I went on the tour at UCF and while there my friend and I asked them if they could change it to Towers for us (the towers looks awesome of course so it seemed like a great decision), so I’m set to be in towers but I’m starting to have second thoughts. On one hand, you get your own room and have a kitchen and so much space and reserved parking (or something like that), but on the other hand it’s really pricey and I prefer where the Nike/Hercules is located (even though the towers is near the bookstore and all of that which is nice, academic village is near gym, pool, etc). So which is a better choice for a future freshman?

I have seen this question and answer so many times as well, which is better socially? And I seem to always read that Nike/Hercules is (is this true?), which is kind of what I want freshman year more of. I know quite a few people who are living in the academic village but I want to meet others really too.

Also, have any of you who did the whole random roommate thing like who they chose for you? If I do towers, I’ll definitely be having a random roommate or just might find someone over facebook, but I’m sort of afraid of getting roomed with a psychopath lol they’re probably worried about the same thing too though.

Truthfully, my heart is kind of set on changing it back to Nike/Hercules (which I don’t think would be a problem since they changed it to towers so easily) but I kind of want reasons to not change it as well haha sorry for all the questions but these past two months my questions keep forming more and more, thanks for the help in advance.

I’ve actually lived in both and I’d recommend Nike/Herc. for freshmen. I lived there my first semester of college and loved it. Of course it’s not as luxurious as the Towers but it’s much easier to meet new people since you’ll be surrounded by other freshmen. Towers have mainly sophomores and juniors so it’s harder to meet people and it’s also kinda isolated from everything else on campus so it can get lonely sometimes.

Go to Hercules. The people in the Towers seem to stick to themselves, that is unless you catch them outside the front door throwing up dinner and lunch. Hercules has a more upbeat atmosphere.

Thanks sambby and begavond, I’m about to request for a change. Is there a main difference between nike and hercules?

Yeah, I’m torn between those both, too! For Towers you HAVE to pay for fall, spring, and summer, and that’s a turn-off because it is so expensive. I’m living in an apartment though as a freshmen, and I hope I still get to make lots of friends.

Yeah towers = expensive but nice haha, an apartment on campus?
