Hey Guys,
I'm currently a junior at UCF and I am getting ready to take Calc 1 in the fall, but I have to take care of Trig and Pre-Calc this summer so that I have met the pre-req's. I had originally planned on taking both at UCF over the summer, but remembering my horrible experience with UCF's Mathlab, decided to instead try and take them at Seminole State as a transient. My problem with the Lab does not stem from a lack of willingness to study (3.98 GPA), but rather a strong conviction not to spend 5 hours a week in the lab when I could be doing it from the comfort of my own home.
My question is, will I be prepared enough to handle Calc 1 at UCF with a math background from Seminole State? Has anyone done this?

Why don’t you just take Calc 1 at Seminole State?

I took Calc 1 through 3 (and several other math based classes beyond that) at UCF, but they never forced me to go to the Mathlab.

Calc 1 at UCF can be difficult, especially if you get a bad professor.

I most likely got a 5 on AP calc BC last week, but I probably won’t take the credit. Would calc 1 at ucf be hard in that it is poorly taught or hard as in hard tests with no curves?

It’s honestly all subjective depending on the professor you get. I took several classes at Valencia and found some professors to be better than those at ucf. (financial & managerial accounting, stats)

That said, I also took Trig and pre-calc at a CC and learned a lot but never attempted calc 1 since I changed my major so I can’t really tell you if it prepared me enough. All I know is that I hate the math classes at ucf, especially ones that involves the math lab (or “mall” as they call it.)
