hi everyone. i thought it would be a good idea for everyone to post their stats if they were Deferred. It would help the students who were deferred see sorta their chances and competition.

My admissions officer said that 30% of deferred students are eventually oferred admission to UCF.

I was deferred a week ago, and found out on Friday I was accepted.

GPA: 3.05 W
ACT: 33
8 AP courses, all passed. 6 IB courses. Everything else honors.
Also president of quite a few clubs and member of all honor societies.

To you guys that went from deferred to accepted, what did you add to your application that changed the status? Or did you not add anything at all and just waited it out?

I personally hadn’t done anything yet. I tried to call but their phone service is awful. If I needed, I was going to send in letters of recommendation, since I didn’t before. The best thing is to contact a school and find out specifically why you were deferred. If UCF is your #1 choice, say it. Let them know where you stand.

Well, I haven’t necessarily asked them why I was deferred, but I did send them a nice written email basically saying “I’m sad but willing to do whatever it takes.” I have informed them multiple times that UCF is my 1st choice though. But I think it’s pretty obvious I was deferred because of test scores. I’m sending out my senior grades hoping that will help since I got a 3.8 with all honors and 2 IB.

I was in contact with ucf admissions reps and asked lots of questions called etc. but thats basically all i did. I was planning to submit really good semester grades but was admitted friday before that.

I keep trying my best to stay in contact with them without being annoying in any way possible. They respond to my emails in short notice too. I emailed C. Gordon but got a reply from E. Costello a few days ago, which was nice considering it was on a more personal level concerning my application instead of an auto mated message of their last year statistics. Mrs. Costello said send in updated transcripts and new test scores. So I’m doing that. I just hope I get accepted. It’s my first choice college.

@Dann, were you at any point suspended from or got in trouble that led to some form of on the record punishment? I don’t see how you would get deferred with those stats

I was deferred for Fall 2013
ACT: 25
GPA: 3.4

I am out of state and was told only 5% of out of state students are accepted. I kept in contact with the school and sent an email to UCF Trustee Ray Gilley. I explained my life history, major projects I have worked on, and that I was hoping to attend UCF. He replied and he forwarded my email to the Chief of Staff at UCF. Within ten minutes of that email being received, I was accepted. I would encourage people to reach out. Don’t beg or whine to get in, just explain who you are and why you want to attend.

I then received an out of state tuition waiver three weeks into the semester but do not know if it was connected to the email I sent.
