UCF Transfer for Spring 2013 transfer

When do I apply for that and will it be extremely competitive during the spring since I"m not competing with freshmen? I'm coming from an OOS university...I'm also trying to get 60 credits by the time I transfer. Any ideas...I'm super lost californian....

Hey spring 2013 deadline is Nov for UCF…UCF is competitive during all terms… Definitely get your AA before transferring (not sure why, but in FL it’s highly recommended that you have your AA degree not just 60 credits…I guess bc it makes you exempt from university specific requirements…I had 85 credits but they made me go and take one additional course to earn my AA in order to transfer…) Anyways, depending on how many credits you have left to take before getting your AA it might be better to transfer to Valencia CC and get your AA there, then you are pretty much guaranteed admission… Otherwise get your AA and have a 3.5 or above GPA and you’re fine…

@EileenM I’m not at a community college. I’m currently in San Francisco State University, so I can’t get an AA. I can only get 60 credits. What gpa would I need if I’m just in a regular university? I’m about to be a sophomore, and I want to transfer spring of my junior year…any suggestions?

I wasn’t at a CC when I transferred either… A lot of university’s offer an AA… But if yours doesn’t… It depends on your major… If it’s not limited access… Then I’m guessing a 3.5 or above but if it is LA then 3.8 or above… Also, to raise your chances, make sure you have all prerequisite’s to your major completed before transfer…you can find them on the university website…

The 3.5 or above is only bc u are OOS… People with 2.8 and an AA from FL schools get in… (it’s somewhat rare that they do…but it does happen)

Also, why in the world would you wanna leave Cali for FL lol?!?

California sucks as of right now. Our budget cuts are killing us…so people I leaving to out of state universities. And Haha, I’m sorry. I meant Spring 2014. not 2013.
It’s also difficult to transfer to different universities in California…:frowning: If I could I would have.

You are coming to the wrong state… We just had $400 million cut from our university funding…All major universities have dramatically cut transfer spots…especially UF…Also, a lot of Summer classes were cancelled at some schools like FAU…

UF had to eliminate their entire computer science dept…it’s bad here too :/

Wow, didn’t know lol. I’ll rethink everything then…The problem is that I would transfer to another californian university, it’s just that the state has a law where CC students and HS students are first priority then students in other universities and i’ll probably have a difficult time transferring. Is the same thing going on in FL too? Also SFSU doesn’t have my major. Speech Pathology/Physical Therapy.

We have basically the same thing… Transfer students who receive their AA from a FL university or CC receive first priority…(there is a law that states that if you have your AA from a FL institution then you are guaranteed acceptance to one of the 11 major university’s in FL… But you don’t get to choose) Although
HS students are separate from transfers…

I was desperately trying to transfer to a CA univ. but every school I looked at said CA CC students receive first priority…so I gave up lol

I see…okay. I’ll look into everything lol. I just seriously hate my university I go to…Not the environment I was looking for.

You should still apply…don’t give up on UCF  good luck!

Thanks! :)
