UCF Transfer Summer 2012

I am going to be earning my AA in spring 2012 of course, and I applied for summer 2012. According to a student advisor there, it depends on a lot of things for the admissions committee to determine an acceptance or a deferral. For example, if they see a couple of Ds or Fs, and they believe you will make these same grades in your last term, and so they defer until final grades are in. Have any of you been deferred because of final grades if you are getting your AA in the spring while applying for summer? Can someone tell me when they would notify me if I was accepted or not? I mean the deadline for summer is March 1st and I'd like to think they would start sending notification around late January to mid February. Thank you and happy holidays.

I am in the same boat. I’m planning on applying for Summer '12 and am also recieving my AA in early May. I wonder if I should chance it and just go ahead and apply for summer. I’d prefer it over entering in the fall. I wonder if they need to wait for final grades before making a decision. I know FSU doesn’t.

You can apply for Summer now, but I was told that admissions will look to see how your grades are in your core mathematics and/or science courses and your standing in those will determine whether they accept you before you receive your AA. They’ll also be looking at your GPA because “technically” if you apply to UCF as a Transfer student without 60 or more credits, they will place your application under “Freshmen” admissions criteria and you can look on the UCF website for what that is.

I don’t want to shoot you down, but they MAY defer your admission until the Fall because you don’t have your AA yet (and ask for your final grades), BUT on the lighter side they may offer your admission if you are in great standing as of right now.

I just thought as long as you earn your AA before the start of the term you’re fine.

You can go ahead and apply for Summer now since you are expected to get your AA in May. There is a possibility they will accept you based on the condition that you receive your AA in May. I’ve known of that happening to students who want to come into UCF in the Summer but won’t have their AA until the end of the Spring Semester. The only thing with that was, they had their math and science courses done and had done well in them (that’s why I said they will more than likely look into your math/science grades to determine whether they admit you without your AA at the time of your application).

It definitely doesn’t hurt to apply now in the hopes of transfering for the Summer term. They can either tell you yay or nay (and defer you) but that AA on your transcript in May will secure you for the Fall term definitely.

Hope this was helpful.
