Hey there!
I'm a 12th grader in high school and am getting nervous about all these new things I hear about. Anyways the college I'd like to see myself in is UCF.
I took my SAT and got 1690, 1150 without writing. My GPA is a bit low at 3.0 and I took a difficult senior schedule to maybe help a bit. Schedule includes things like AICE Psych, AP gove/econ, honors physics, law studies, and some regular classes. I currently am struggling with time since I need more volunteer hours (my school requires 80) and I have a job. Should I wait for my senior grades to come out to apply for colleges like UCF? Should I take my ACT? Does UCF require both an ACT and an SAT? Any other information you could all tell me would seriously relieve some of this intense stress :p Thanks!

Hi,

This may be of some use.

<a href=“Universities - State University System of Florida”>Universities - State University System of Florida;

http://www.flbog.edu/about/_doc/cod/asa/admission_2013/2013-Matrix.pdf

The matrix will allow you to compare the admission info on each of the 12 public universities in Florida.

For example, for UCF, the middle 50% GPA range of accepted students over the summer was 3.4-3.9 (3.5-4.2 over the fall), the middle 50% SAT range was 1560-1720.

That’s a weighted GPA (with +0.5 points for honor/gifted classes and +1.0 points for AP/AICE/IB/DE classes), so you may need to recalculate your GPA, if 3.0 was an unweight GPA.

Your test score seems ok, but your GPA is a bit low. UCF only requires one Test (SAT or ACT), you should submit your highest scores. It does super score the SAT, so you may want to think about re-taking that test.

Good Luck!

Thanks so much! You actually answered everything XD one more thing that I forgot to ask please. When should I begin applying to colleges? Any tips?

Best to apply early (regular admissions). Apply to schools that are a match (or a reach), but also make sure you apply to at least one safety.

Good Luck!
