I applied to UCF in September (still haven't heard a response yet...shame bc the auditions are in January) so anyway everytime I called them for information they were very rude. Anyone else have similar experiences with that? I also heard from other theatre students that their shows are awful and people would walk out. Does anyone have information on the program before I waste my time getting angry that they haven't given me a decision so I can audition ^_^

Ironically - my S has applied there for an unrelated graduate program. We've had a similar experience with the Admissions Office. I will tell you what I told him - this is the ONLY time you will deal with the admissions office, wait to see if you connect with the professors who you will spend at least four years with!

We have not had any problems with admissions. Apineapple4me, when is your audition in January? My D has hers on 1/21.

scogor, I'm not sure I haven't heard back from them yet :) but i put that as my first preference date...all I know is thats the only day I can do the audition because I work at the South Florida Renaissance Festival. I don't live to far (im 3 hours away by car) but it would be an extreme hassle if they don't give me an admissions decision before the audition date. (and it's kind of annoying since all my friends got a decision already and they applied after me)

illinisue, that's true I didn't think about that ^_^

My daughter had the same problem with admissions at UCF last year. We called repeatedly, and they said that they had not received her transcript, which is ironic as they are electronically sent when you live in Florida. Her high school sent them out three times for us. When finally received, they told us they had not received her SAT scores. We called the College Board, and when told that a school had not received her scores, their first question was "Is the school UCF". Seems they misplace alot of the information sent to them. The scores also had to be resent. She was scheduled to audition in March, and had already received acceptances, prior to the audition date, so she cancelled the audition. Ironically, the day she cancelled, was the day that she received her admission to UCF. This was a safety school for her, and she wasn't all that interested in it, as she had not heard much positive about the program. At one of her auditions, she met a student from the program who was looking to transfer. She ultimately ended up at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, and is very happy. Of all the schools she applied to, we found this one the most frustrating to deal with, but I wish you luck. Keep calling to find out what they are still needing from you, and follow up!

divasmom, I have called them numerous times, each time asking if all my stuff is in (they always tell me yes, however upon looking they put down my lowest SAT scores which I told them about but then they said it was a college board problem...funny how all the other schools i sent SAT scores to didn't have that problem) and then a few weeks ago I called and they said they'd give me a decision by december 16th and never did. I am getting extremely annoyed with them and with what Iv'e heard from people who go there (not necessarily majoring in theatre but were theatre people in high school) It's really not that good. However, my parents are making me stay instate for a year before I can transfer. (because i guess they want to make sure I'm dedicated to college or something) Another problem is, I'm not a gaurenteed in-the-bucket acceptance academically to UCF so I can't put it as a safety school, but from what I heard I probably have a good chance of getting in for musical theatre...but now, I think that New World School of the Arts would be better anyway. Wow that was a rant haha :) sorry about that. Congratulations on your daughter! Uarts is one of my dream schools :)
