UChicago 2015 Hopefuls

Yes I agree the topics are much better than last year’s. I like how they helped us out by sending the topics to us when common app pushed their date back a whole month, which would’ve been so crucial (to have July). I really like this school and would really like to get it!
Cant wait!

I’ll be applying as well! And I really like the essays too. As @RajLon said, they are better than last year’s. Lots of opportunity for creative stuff!

What’s the average word length for the uChicago essays?

^ Somewhere around 500-600 words is recommended? In any case, they don’t want you to end up writing a novel for each one xD

By the way, has anyone received a shirt from Chicago? I got one in the mail a few months ago and was very surprised to say the least. I’m actually wearing it as I type :p

^ What! Jealous! >o< lol

I got one a while back too… But it was way oversized! :)

I think the shirts were sent to people who sent Chicago their SAT scores…

Ya that’s what their letter said

hmm i think ill be applying EA here and ED Pomona

I’m applying :D

I’m loving the essay topics.

^I second both!

I am applying EA here for sure, I have already started working on UChicago’s essay!!!

I’m really excited about this whole process. Early action here we come. Good luck to all!

Can someone link me the prompts for this year? I saw something about them being on another thread but I can’t find it.

nvm got it
my eyes seem to ignore threads without the yellow dots next to them lol

Ah! I love this school! I’ll be applying EA for sure! :]

I just decided in the past week or so that I want to apply. And now I’m pretty excited about the school. : D

^ Awesome; welcome to the club :D

Wait…they send you a t-shirt for sending them your SAT scores? How long does it take to arrive?

Thanks fledgling! initially i had written it off b/c i was like, i don’t want to go to a school full of socially awkward nerds. Then i was like, wait–I’M a nerd. (I know not everyone at Chicago is socially awkward; just a joke!) I also wasn’t a fan of the core, but then I did this socially awkward nerdy thing I like to do, which is lovingly peruse course catalogs and get excited about what classes I could take, and I learned more about the core and… well, and got excited about what classes I could take. Haha.
