To everyone asking, UChicago is notorious for waitlisting way more applicants than they need to. Unfortunately, if I’m being perfectly honest, it doesn’t mean much. Chances are microscopic, although maybe they miscalculated RD yield since this year is so new.

This is such a disappointment. It’s my fourth rejection out of seven colleges…I honestly don’t know what to do
@PeregrineFlute Yeah chances were never going to be great for waitlist. At least there’s still hope though.

I was accepted at Northwestern, which I like better, though, so I don’t care!! 
OMG, my son got in! He was deferred EA. We figured he didn’t have a chance, although he definitely thought the “square one” essay was his best, and he definitely has the scores to get in (but I know that’s not what they base it on). Now we just need to figure out how to pay for it. National Merit Finalist might help a bit, I hope!

Honestly, I’m treating this as a soft rejection as it seems most people seemed to be put on the wait list. Guess they need to protect their precious yield 
I rather they rejected me if they knew they would eventually rejected me instead of treating me as another statistic.
