@messiisgod123 I’m pretty sure you just email your regional admissions counselor, whoever that may be.
If I would like to write a letter that I have a continuous interest, should I do that by sending email or writing it down in a document and updating in the portal?
Emailed a letter of continued interest this morning. I may have shot myself in the foot, but I really needed to get it off my chest. I’ll probably regret it tomorrow.
From UChicago:
“You may wish to indicate your continued interest in UChicago by emailing your regional admissions counselor. It only advised to send a brief email indicating that UChicago is still a top choice for you, and it’s ok to wait to do this—we strongly encourage you to wait, consider the other options you have as further decisions roll in, and then decide whether or not UChicago remains your top choice with knowledge of your other amazing possibilities. Submitting other additional material such as recommendation letters, additional essays, etc is not necessary, nor do we recommend doing so.”
@Meganerd2012 Thank you!
By the way, where did you find the paragraph you quote?
An old post from their admissions Tumblr and also a thread here called “Advice for Waitlisted Students”.
Waitlisted,
I feel you. I’m happy about my waitlist too haha
I just tore down and ripped up my UChicago poster and put it in the trash along with a UChicago pennant. Feels good to throw away a school that doesn’t believe I’m good enough.
I was recently rejected from WashU & Northwestern & waitlisted at UChicago, but I received a likely letter from Brown. I was at the top of one school’s applicant pool & flat out rejected from others. Just a reminder that the admissions process is a gamble & many qualified applicants get rejected/accepted based largely on chance. Congratulations to everyone who got in, but for everyone else, don’t take your decision to heart! One school’s decision does not determine your worth as a student/person & we will all do great things wherever we end up
I got waitlisted
Trust me, you will love whatever college you end up at, it will be the best time of your life.
I expected a flat out rejection, and when I went on the portal I saw “due to a large…” and I was like I knew it. But then I realized I was actually waitlisted, and I’m actually happy about it! My essays weren’t the best as I wanted them to be because I decided to apply last-minute, and I didn’t do the optional interview (I’m not sure how much that would even weigh into the application). So I wasn’t expecting much.
I already accepted my waitlist position, but most likely I won’t even get in so just waiting for March 30 lol.
@societal_hazard @intellectboy where in India are you from? I’m from Mumbai
I got in!!! So excited! I was deferred ED and they just posted that I was in! Good luck to everyone and I’m so excited to be a Maroon!
How many of you actually accepted the waitlist? Or the gap year?
@Hizeus I accepted the waitlist, but not the gap year.
@Faultystart What is the gap year thing exactly?
@AstralWanderer uh, I think it was an option to be evaluated to get off the waitlist as s part of next year’s class (college class of 2022)
if my explanation makes sense lol
@Faultystart I am a little confused now. Does that mean if you take a gap year, you will be given an advantage in decisions next year or is it just saying you are getting off their wait list?
The former sounds rather unbelievable.
