@AstralWanderer i think they’ll look at your application again and if they like you enough you’ll be admitted into next year’s incoming class. so you’re not guaranteed to get off the waitlist.
I think it means that if checked, UChicago will reevaluate your application with an “Advantage” (demonstrated interest) in next admissions cycle. You may be asked for an application update next year, and that shall be evaluated along with this application. Waitlist often means the applicant is qualified to be in UChicago so after a year why not reevaluate the most interested applicant?
Lol, wait for a whole year for a chance of getting off the waitlist rather than for a guaranteed acceptance. Who would choose that option…
it’d be a good choice if you wanted to take a gap year @williams2021
@Faultystart That’s not what I meant. Yes it is great if you wanted a gap year, but then you have to start the college admission process all over again because you are not guaranteed to be admitted to Uchicago.
@williams2021 iirc, people in last year’s uchicago waitlist thread said they were notified if they were accepted into the class of 2021 before the summer–you’d know if you got in off the waitlist or not. so you would be guaranteed to go to uchicago then
@Physics7 hey, I’m from Delhi.
Gap year means they offer you a spot in the class of 2022 this May or June. If you accept, you are guaranteed that spot, provided you don’t enroll in any other college till you matriculate into UChicago. You can do whatever else you like for the gap year.
Don’t you usually have to get your gap plans approved by the college? That’s what I thought but maybe it depends on the specific college. Best to check with Admissions if you are considering a gap year.
Edit to add: Not “approved” as in “permission” but rather they have to be ok with what you are planning to do that year in order to hold your spot.
Does anyone know when FA decisions will be available? Thank you!
They should be posted in your UChicago account about a week after the admit release date, at least that is what they did for ED2.
Hey I’m wondering if any accepted students from RD have received any sort of physical package/letter in the mail? I’ve received packages from a couple of schools that released their admissions decisions both before and after Chicago, but I haven’t received anything physical from UChicago besides a small invitation card to an admitted students reception.
Not my kid, not yet anyway. Through your student portal you can see your options to visit campus as an admitted student and what cities are holding admitted student receptions.
Anyone planning on going to the admitted student reception in Denver on the 1st or the destination UChicago fly in/admit event the 5th-7th?
My daughter is planning on going to the Denver event on the 1st and the 20/21 April admitted students overnight.
@Yuchentu not sure if you need to accept the offer to get a couple different packages of swag. The infamous UChicago scarf with a “survival” manual and in the second, a tshirt, hat, pen, postits, window sticker and pad.
wow this si really minor and probably won’t apply to me, but if i were to get in off the waitlist would i still get the uchicago swag stuff
(as you can see i’m asking the really important questions here)
Anyone know when our financial aid info comes out if we got in?
lol I put my name down for the class of 2022 list but there’s no way my parents would let me take a gap year
Are we just using this thread for waitlisted people or do you guys want to make a new thread?
