anyone get off yet? I head they start around this time
@EPICBOYXP based on last year’s thread, I think a lot of the offers went out between 23 April and 8 May (last week of April to first week of May approximately), although that’s just based on people posting their results. There could be many more people not in CC who either for their decision much earlier or much later
They have a history of starting in April…
@cutecrab Yes. Daughter just heard from the University of Amsterdam . They have just given her a full-tuition waiver. Living expenses in Europe are high, though.
Congrats on your UW Madison aid. We’be heard that it is hard to come by.
Any national merit finalists/semifinalists?
@afreeman elsewhere
I have a question. In my LOCI, I mentioned that I selected the class if 2022 and gap year options provided on the waitlist form, and that I would definitely attend if given admission, but I never elaborated on the gap year option (what I would do during a gap year, etc). Should I email them again stating that I am also very interested in the gap year option, or is it not necessary?
@CPTsymmetry
I think it’s fine as long as you stated you were interested in their class of 2022 or 2023 if offered a spot. You don’t have to write a whole lot about the gap year, they do understand if you are not sure about your plans. My advisor tells me it’s fine as long as you write a little about it or atleast mention it. tell them the things you will do for sure but it’s ABSOLUTELY FINE to not be really elaborate.
As everyone says, we have to remind them we exist in a gentle, non-pestering way. You just have to tell them you will 1000 percent accept a spot in any class. If you already did that, you don’t have to send another email unless you have a major update. My ROA stated in an old interview that they are likely to admit those who are most likely to accept a spot and forgo other plans.
I strongly recommend not saying you will commit to the school unless you’re 100% that you will. So really think about it. Also if your parents will not be okay with the gap year then don’t select it. I’m very sure the officers would get annoyed if you pester them and then they offer you a spot just so you can decline it…
You don’t want to effect your relationship with the college. Incase you want to transfer or go to grad school.
If you change your mind about the waitlist or gap year option it’s okay. Just really put some thought into it.
@Legends Grad school admissions ain’t related to the undergrad admissions office
@averagelowtier True, but if you extremely annoy the admissions office, or do something to offend there’s always the chance they’ll remember you.
Unlikely… but possible.
@Legends haha, true. I said I would 100% attended because it’s my dream school, bit you have a point. It’s unfair to the university and more over, to other waitlisted students if you say you will attend if given admission and then back out at the last minute.
Undergrad and Grad schools have completely separate admissions. This is part of why you are not a legacy at a school if your mom/dad went to the grad school. Even though admissions is separate, even if they weren’t (which they are), after 4 years and thousands and thousands of applicants, they probably remember one or two names throughout the years
Any updates?
Looks like they haven’t heard from the accepted candidates yet.
@cutecrab hopefully a low yield.
