Indigo – look at Johns Hopkins. Easy access to DC (commuter rail), BA/MA program with SAIS if you decide to do international affairs, lots of volunteer opportunities involving Baltimore public schools, and a very cool research grant fellowship (up to $10K spread out over 4 years --and faculty mentorship – for a project of your choice) that you can apply for as an incoming freshperson. Not sure how they are wrt financial aid, so if that’s an issue for you, start by investigating their policies and making sure it’s affordable.
To me, the most appealing UofC/Hopkins parallel is that an academically-inclined undergrad can effectively function as an honorary grad student re access to faculty, seminars, research opportunities. That said, your undergrad cohort at JHU would probably be more preprofessional than at UofC.
I can’t decide whether I’m happy that they’re releasing decisions on the 18th. It’s my last day of school before winter break, so I guess it will be nice if I don’t get in so I don’t lose focus on my finals. On the other hand, I’m going to go see Star Wars on Friday after swim practice, so if I don’t get in, seeing the movie might not be such a joyous experience. Oh, well! At least we know when decisions come out.
I’m hanging out with some friends that day, and then we’re going to see Star Wars. One of them is also applying. This could really dampen the mood… hopefully we both get the same result.
Loving how many other international applicants there are here hahah! Time for the ten-day countdown…I have school-related volunteer work to do on Saturday, and half my school will be there, along with everyone else who’ll have already got responses from their early schools. Oh boy.
Maybe the delay had something to do with the shooting threat they had?
