Essays: Honestly probably the reason I got deferred and not rejected! It is hard, but if I had to rank them I would give my common app essay a 9/10, my historical mashup essay a 10/10, my “Why UChicago” essay an 8/10, and my optional essay (a list of my interests) an 8.5/10.
Teacher Recommendations: One from my Mock Trial coach/English 11 teacher and one from my French teacher/NHS supervisor. I waived my right to read them, but I have a good relationship with both teachers.
Counselor Rec: Also waived my right to read this, but we also have a good relationship.

General Comments/Advice/Hindsight:
Congratulations to everyone who was accepted!!
To all those who are deferred: I know it is frustrating (I have three of them) but I am trying to stay positive and wish everyone the best!
To all those rejected: Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason to this process (look at my stats and decisions!), but know that we will all end up where we are meant to end up!
To future applicants: At the end of the day the process is so random that it is best to stay true to yourself. I spent years trying to guess what the AdCom wanted to see on paper, and I finally realized at the beginning of this year that I needed to just be me. All of you are amazing individuals who will change the world in some way and will end up at the right school for YOU! Admissions can be a tough pill to swallow but if you do your best and keep working on those grades and test scores, you should feel accomplished for even trying!
