Everyone, just try to take a break and not look here or at the portal before 5:00. Barring an act of God, there’ll be no decisions before then, and you’ll only kindle your anxiety. It’s unhelpful and unproductive to obsess over something you have no control over. Go see the new Star Wars movie or something.
I am really anxious about this decision, UChic is one of my top choices and I feel that I will go into cardiac arrest out of receiving the decision regardless of its result. I can only hope for the best while at the same time keeping an open mind. May the rest of you find success and happiness tomorrow!

so my grades arent that great: uw- 91.57 and w-94.66 but i think my extracurriculars and essays are good–do you think those would make up for my grades. im also from a very competitive public school
Just how important are the essays to UChicago?

Essays and letters or recommendations are very important. One of the few ways to differentiate yourself (lot’s of strong ACT/SAT scores and GPA’s).

Kids, stop fretting about your chance. You will find out in 24 hours. Nothing you can do now can change the final decision. Go do something else that can occupy your mind. Go see a movie(Last Jedi, Coco, or whatever). Binge watch Game of Thrones. Play computer games. Read a long book. In the last resort, exercise. Just don’t hang around here at CC.
Whatever the result tomorrow is, it does not define you. I have met third tier state university graduates who are stunningly smart. I have met Harvard/Stanford grads that are total boneheads. Your college does not determine your future.
Hey so to anybody else that submitted their supplement through the common app, does the UChicago portal give you the option to upload your supplement still? Because I for sure sent mine through the common app but the portal is still letting me fill out the form.
Yep, I see the same thing, but unless they sent you an email saying they’re missing your supplement, I wouldn’t worry about it.
Did anyone get offered an off-campus interview? Is it a bad sign if one was not offered?
