I’m Indian, and I have a birth name, chosen and deemed auspicious by an astrologer based on star patterns a while before I was born, and an official (legal) name; only my parents and closest friends call me by my birth name, but I love it a lot more than my official name and it feels a lot more dear and sacred to me, so I’m considering legally changing my name too! :D</p>
<p>@ita that’s really cool! one interesting thing about me is that i love hugs but most people are afraid of hugging me bc they think they’ll break me or something (I’m in a wheelchair). according to my family/friends, i give the best hugs. another interesting fact is that i can type 25 wpm with one finger on one hand</p>
<p>and the uic struggle is real, if i had a dollar for everytime it happened i wouldn’t need fin aid</p>

<p>@debater I’m assuming that was addressed to ita, but I talked about having a different name in my favorite things essay, because my favorite essayist’s name is also my birth name :)</p>
<p>@debater Yes, I did! And I did a way to incorporate it into my supplement essay actually. I’ve actually been freaking out because, along with my supplement essay (which was about my passion for filmmaking), I made a creative film about the mantis essay. I uploaded it to YouTube because it’s much easier to send it that way to family and friends to critique but I’m not even sure if U of C has even watched it! I’m dying over here!</p>
