UChicago EA Applicants 2018

This thread is distracting me from a scholarship essay that I’m supposed to be writing.

neontissues, she’s one of us. :stuck_out_tongue: I have no idea what page it’s on, but a few nights back we basically fangirled about Tom and his perfection for several pages. It was glorious. Just like him.

While we wait, we might as well as talk about all of the cool things we wrote about for our extended essays!

My extended essay for the prompt “You are you and your… ?” was about how I am me and my doodles. I scanned doodles and formatted them onto the same page as my essay.

What did you guys write about?

That’s really cool! I did the same prompt, but I wrote my essay about animal rescue and why it’s important to me (most of my volunteer activities are with rescue animals).

wrote the history one, connected it to newton’s third law and an elephant

@careful I did that same essay prompt! Except I said I am me and my shoes. I didn’t scan anything, but I personified my shoes and showed how they’re representations of my life and the events that have shaped my personality.

@impressionistic: That’s awesome and very personal!

@ironchariot: LOL, cause they can’t jump? Brilliant!

Gah you guys are all so creative!

@footiesc7: That’s so cool! I once heard an election speech given like that… it was made by someone running for the position of President, and she discussed how each of the board members was a different type of shoe and that she was Dr. Scholl’s shoe gel inserts and how she would work with everyone. It was so creative!

@imp i don’t think mine’s THAT creative, but you guys can judge when decisions come out i’ll share it,

I did the you are you and your… About my running. Not very creative or weird haha but it was honest!

@iron as a physics enthusiast and potential physics major, I definitely think yours is super cool/ creative!

I really like all of these essays, and I wish you all the best of luck on Wednesday! :)

Did you guys take a creative spin on the “Why UChi?” question or did you just treat it as a normal “Why School X?” question?

gracias footies, funny thing is i hated physics when i took it but i do like the science channel

Another tom hiddleston lover. Life is wonderful.

This thread is distracting me from my Sunday night homework travails.

And footiesc7, I know what you mean about the whole CC-on-the-phone-distraction. This thread is too provocative, not to mention all the emails I get from being subscribed to it.

But I wouldn’t trade this little fam for the world. (Wow that was some ultra cheese)

@neon awwww, family hug! pulled a muscle in my back yesterday, but you guys are making me forget about it, which is good

@careful normal question with a bit of humor

@careful I like to think I took a creative spin to my why UChicago essay. It wasn’t much of an essay, actually. I wrote a poem in an ode format. It was inspired by Ode to my Socks (I love poetry and read/write as much as I can). It was an Ode to my College Process, talking about how I was lost of where I wanted to go until I found UChicago and how it fits everything I look for in an educational institution. I wrote it in English and then translated it into Spanish and made a format that you could see the translation line by line without disturbing the flow of the poem. It was kind of to show my latino heritage since my family is of Aztec descendance, I figured that writing half of the thing in Spanish would be pretty cool and it’d make me sort of stand out.

@footiesc7 that’s so cool!

I unofficially titled mine “A Day in the Life of the Mind” and described by means of a detailed itinerary what a typical day at U of C would look like for me and then reflected at the end.

@footiesc that essay sounds awesome. Hi fan girl,
There are so many people on this thread now :). More hugs :)
