I’m a guy… and I have no idea who Tom Hiddleston is.

Ryan Gosling though. Oh god. He could redefine patriarchal ideas of a binary sexuality on me any day he wants.

ARGHHH yea i’m sooooo disappointed loki won’t be returning for avengers 2. he’s such a character and i’d like to see him as a conduit between the avengers and ultron.

to any physics people out there:
does anyone know any good sources or resources for quantum entanglement? i’m doing a research paper on it, but all the materials i find involve really complex quantum mechanical calculations that i simply can’t understand with only one semester of physics. it’s supposed to be understandable at a high school level. any help would be appreciated!

@WiscosinDebater, I thank Aphrodite each day for making that man look so good. Especially when he raises his eyebrows… Ugh. Have you seen Gangster Squad?

I was at my brother’s graduation yesterday and one of the people graduating was named Ryan Gosling. My head has never swiveled so fast.

Alas, it was unfortunately a different Ryan Gosling.

Wait, talking of actors, does anyone like Michael Fassbender?
He was the first actor to make me search up his filmography and actually watch them… o_o

GANGSTER SQUAD IS MY SHIZZ. i have an insane love for all things mafia-related (godfather, anyone?). and adding emma stone into the mix makes things even better.

ryan gosling was also great in crazy, stupid, love. one of the best non-sucky chick flicks out there.

[What Is Quantum Entanglement?](Quantum Entanglement in Physics)

@carter no I haven’t :(

But have you seen feminist ryan gosling? I love it.

Anyone out there like philosophy?

i move we change the eleventh commandment from “thou shalt love Tom Hiddleston” to “thou shalt love Tom Hiddleston and Ryan Gosling”

@neon and @ironchariot

Be careful with simplifications like that. Often times when you simplify a complex subject (which quantum entanglement most certainly is), the simplification is no longer accurately describing what is seen in nature. It’s unfortunate, but it will be hard to accurately describe quantum entanglement to a class without using the math which is, admittedly, above all of our ranges right now. The introduction to the book QED has a good little bit on popular simplifications of scientific topics.

No matter how improbable, I would really like to see Loki become good and become an Avenger. Think of the snark and sass and amusing magical battle scenes.

Philosophy is my THING, @WD
Let’s ponder upon the answer to a question that has no answer! Have you ever given personalities to inanimate objects? When I was in 7th grade I tucked my pencils into bed at night… I still develop deep feelings for ‘insignificant’ objects and most people think it’s crazy.

Hmm if Grace sees this thread carter001’s plan is not gonna work…

@carter001 Isn’t that more of a psychology question?

@carter

in eighth grade i named all the pencils in my pencil case and brought all 32 of them with me to the cty sats because i was so concerned that one of them might get left behind

(i don’t think you’re crazy at all, though some people might think i am)

Well, it depends on what the question is I guess? Can inanimate objects have feelings? That’s more of what I was going for.

I like Michael Fassbender! He was great in X Men: First Class, which was phenomenal, and I can’t wait to see Days of Future Past! Partially because I love 20th century American and Cold War history and the way they’ve incorporated it into the prequel series is really fascinating. There’s this one photo from Wimbledon last year where Tom Hiddleston looks a lot like Michael Fassbender, and it always blows my mind.

Has anyone read Sophie’s world? I think I’m definitely going to have to read it if I’m accepted because you people are geniuses and I know nothing about philosophy haha

@fireballs that’s actually interesting - the topic of oversimplifying scientific topics. I once wrote an essay on the infinite flaws within science and basically arguing that scientism can be(*I say can be, so it doesn’t have to be) as misleading as religious fanaticism.
This might get a little too political, but I think that if studying science is to test and investigate unknown knowledge, essentially any scientific argument can be an oversimplification because we never know how much is still out there to be discovered.and maybe that’s why in lab reports we always write errors section, as to acknowledge that scientific facts are seldom(or can never be) 100% correct :D

I’ve read Sophie’s World! Unfortunately, I don’t remember much of it. There was just so much information and I kept getting a bit bored, I must admit; I’m not much one for philosophy and it read more like a textbook than a novel because of the plot/way it was formatted.
