UChicago EA Applicants 2018

me too, kennedy

Me three, I’m dyin’! What are you all up to for distraction? I’ve been marathon-watching arrested development haha

listening to music and developing a candy crush addiction.

Hey iron, are you positive it won’t be until a week pre-decisions? Some schools (like Penn) have already released a date, so is there any proof UChicago wont do the same?

I think Ironchariot is right. They announced the day of release a week before the actual date last year.

i’m just going off what i read last year, maybe on here, though it could’ve been another site

Yea I read that blog too. So around 15-18. You guyz are a strong competition for me. Is it a good sign if my interviewer was impressed with my achievements?

i would say it’s good  i made my interviewer laugh a lot and he said i’d fit in well.

Thanks they are pretty “chill” I hope, I get in. You guyz are amazing.

I’m really getting nervous. I have the obligatory strong numbers (35 ACT, 5th in class, awesome GPA), but my extracurriculars really aren’t good compared to a lot of yours. Hopefully, my main essay (which in my not so humble opinion, was awesome) will make up the difference.

I have2 EC’s and volunteering, some awards, ACT 34. You’re probably not as lacking as you think, don’t worry.

Maybe I’m succumbing to cc madness or something (where I see everyone here, and freak out), but I’m similar to you. I’ve three things (one of which is NHS, so essentially just volunteering), and maybe that is more reflective of most people applying, but not those represented on cc.

relax, i think we’re underachievers on cc, but i think we’re really passionate. i’m a speech kid, so very similar to you. if we both get in and go, will you teach me how to debate? :)

U Chicago has various debate teams/ Model UN, which I was thinking of doing when there. I’m sure that they’d be a much better teacher than I am.

All of this talk is making me realize how badly I want to go there.

I know…so much for distancing myself lol Even if I don’t get in, I can honestly say I like you people.

MUN-er over here!

I guess I’ll throw myself in as another EA applicant. Anyone else interested in pre law? As unlikely as it is, it would be amazing if Obama lectured again at UChicago after his second term ends.

Yes, that would probably bring me to tears of joy.

He will probably live in Hyde Park after leaving the presidency, so it certainly is possible. David Axelrod founded the Institute of Politics at U Chicago, and they are good friends, so Obama might lecture there.

Maybe we’ll even be lucky enough to have him return as a professor.

@Debater and @Ironchariot don’t worry! I think it matters much more to show passion with one or two things than to spread yourself out over a bunch of stuff. There’s no such thing as a perfect applicant, we all have things we’re nervous about, but some of us (or if we were incredibly lucky all of us! fingers crossed for everyone on here! ) will get in anyway. @Tanboyrunfast I want to do TAPS (theatre and performance studies), but I’ve heard Chicago’s law school is absolutely amazing. What majors are you all interested in?

I think I would turn into an incoherent, twitchy puddle if I ever met Obama.
@nerve I’m into history.
