So the Admissions Office said that they have a date but aren’t ready to announce it yet in case there’s a glitch but that it’s (as we all know) middle of next week–which I take to mean Wednesday-Thursday.

@NateChortek I believe their tumblr or uncommon blog gave that away on the 12th of December last year. I suspect we will have some indicator of a final decision date this Thursday that will probably be for next Wednesday. Just a hunch. @alleycat2 I am having some serious issues focusing on senior year with admissions looming so close! I wish they could just finish the suspense :P

@Awflapjackz WOOHOO! I remember at a meeting over the summer with a Chicago rep that they loose a lot of Michigan people to UMich due to costs, but he spoke in a way that made it seem like they wanted Michigan people. So maybe that’s good for us? @zzzmmm did you specifically call admissions for that? How did you hear that?

Yes, I called. My kid’s UChicago application page had something pop up that suggested his app was incomplete, so I I called (it wasn’t) and also asked about dates. The admissions person said that they have a date but weren’t releasing it to preclude disappointment if they encounter technical glitches. Technical glitches? At one of the world’s leading universities? Unlikely!

@zzzmmm Ah okay! Thank you very much for the information. Now, to just last one more week…

Hm, the technical glitch may be somewhat of a true hazard if what I heard is true and that the applicant number skyrocketed due to No Barriers this year for EA. With that, admissions at UChic is so humorous at times they no doubt enjoy teasing us a little.

im so curious now! do you guys think it would be as early as next wednesday?

@applicant15 hopefully it gives us a little bit of an advantage…? that gives me some hope. i did apply ea to umich, and i really like it there. i love ann arbor, but i just don’t get the same feeling from the campus that i get at uchicago.

well i’m sure as soon as someone hears something i’m sure this feed will blow up

@Awflapjackz The thing about umich is, I like it, yes. But I can feel the sense of arrogance and pride seeping out from all over, and I just do not like the arrogance. With this, UMich does not have the feel of Chicago and UChicago. I want a sense of wonder, a sense of adventure, and a sense of allure that I felt at UChicago, and UMich just did not replicate that for me as well.

I also wrote about the “why are you here” prompt :)

@applicant15 yeah, i feel like i get smarter just by reading the uchicago’s name. umich just seems like a big football and hookup school, neither of which appeals to me /:

Is anyone else just freaking out so much all they do is check this feed, then check their account, then check this feed? Like I can’t even focus on school or finals until I hear SOMETHING. Honestly as long as I know that date of decisions I’ll be okay, its just not knowing is causing this obsession.
Anyone else?
Just me?

@gossipgirlxoxox I check this feed every time I have a free second too. Ugh. Maybe there’ll be news tomorrow.

@gossipgirlxoxox im always checking this thread and it is so pathetic

@Awflapjackz same, I just want someone to know something and everyone else seems to be keeping pretty up-to-date so I can’t help but keep checking

@gossipgirlxoxox maybe tomorrow we’ll get some info )-:

@Awflapjackz hopefully! I just wish they’d let us know something since a lot of other schools already have a set day and I’ve already heard back from somewhere I just figured UChicago would be soon after! But the wait is killing me :((

I feel like seniors should just get three weeks off during decision periods…honestly who’s gonna be able to focus on school with admissions looming so close…sigh the life

but just think of how much worse it would be without something trying to distract you!

@Awflapjackz True true

Personally, if there weren’t school, I’d just hibernate until friday afternoon. Voila, sounds good to me.
