Not necessarily. Some of us may end up elsewhere.

What made you guys decide you wanted to go to UChicago and apply early?

Well, only a few days left. Just thought I would chime in to wish everyone the best of luck. @JK0919 everyone else is right, don’t believe you are worthless and that you have no chance! UChicago values who YOU are, NOT what your numbers say you are! Just stay positive and don’t over think this. It’s only early action, there’s still regular decision if things go south. I’m sure you will be fine. Good luck to everyone!

Looking back now, I realized how underprepared I was when I applied early…only had the required 2 recs+1counselor, pulled 2 all nighters trying to get the uchicago essays in by Nov 1 (in a really tough school and had other early apps too, that’s why I was not happy at all when they extended the deadline but in the end I’m genuinely happy for those who got the chance to hand it in to do so)… I’m fine with whatever result, and my focus would be on regular decision if it doesn’t work out. But I really hope some of us do get in; nice knowing that at least some of the people who deserved it will get it. As for the rest…we’ll find our place

@mahoushojo i got the email too! (international) i assumed they sent it to everyone though haha! perhaps not :)

A comment at the bottom of this website says decisions will be released on the 17th. Can anyone verify its accuracy? Thanks!!!

@Ctesiphon Though I am often pessimistic about my chances at schools, I like to remain optimistic about my future. In my opinion, “elsewhere” will be where I am meant to go. Even if it is not my ideal school, I know that it will be up to me to determine how my college experiences will shape my career. So for me “We’ll all end up where we are meant to go” is a necessarily true statement. I guess people will interpret that differently though. Best of luck to you in all of your applications, and I really do hope you get into one of your first choices!

@amandap28 Yes that date is correct! https://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/
:)

@weepingmermaid, that’s wonderful!

do u think u got a fair shot? if so, i guess it meant something? (maybe not…)

@mahoushojo haha I can only hope! but i’m living abroad on another school system so it’s hard for me to compare against all your profiles :)

Just realized that my “em-dash”—you know, the amazingly versatile punctation I just used to separate this clause—translated into a hyphen once the essays were submitted. So now it looks like I sporadically placed hyphens throughout my essay.

Oh well, that’s what I get for using the “em-dash” instead of commas…

Does that happen for everyone? I thought it doesn’t change if you upload a PDF.

But if it changed for everyone…noooooooo! My precious em-dashes!

Omg guys so I forgot to send in my parents’ W-2 forms when I applied and I uploaded them today and UChicago sent me an email that said “Thank you.”

Does this mean that I can still get financial aid tho

HI Purpledino-you might want to double check for sure, but Grace (the UChicago AdCom that answers questions on the “Ask a UC…” thread) answered a similar question not too long ago for a student who was in the same situation. She said the date is a “soft date” and that the student should still send in their Financial info and they will still be considered for aid. She said one big difference is that if you didn’t get your info in, no package will be included with your initial acceptance. If all you are missing was the W-2 you should be okay–not sure if you would get your aid package with acceptance or later, but you can still receive aid.

Good luck!

@Localdreamer15 I think it was just the feeling that “hey, I wrote a good essay, it represents me, and if I don’t get in, it just means there’s a different school out there that’s better for me.”

Thanks! Also on the website it says that they want a signed copy of the tax forms but my parents did their taxes electronically so they used an electronic signature. This is ok right?

@Purpledino Yes, that’s fine.

Hey guys I set up a count down for december 17th at 5pm (Chicago time) (thats about when they released it last year I think) and it says as of right now we have 3 Days, 7 Hours, and 51 Minutes
And yeah I know this is weird but i’m excited lol
But only a few more days guys!

you think it will be 5 pm central time? i really want an exact time. :b

Yeah me too! I think it’ll be that or earlier maybe! But they said between lunch and dinner though

it could be anywhere between 2 and 5 probably…
