Would it help for me to apply to University of Chicago early action, or wait until regular decision so my senior grades come in and raise my gpa +0.1. My gpa will still be below average but it will be higher and show an upward trend.

I'm going to major in Computer Science and it's my number one school.

Thanks!

What’s your GPA right now? I don’t think it’ll make a big difference as very few people get rejected EA. The EA rate is almost double the RD acceptance rate, but at ~14% vs. ~7%, it’ll be tough either way.

Eh. Just apply EA. You’ll likely get deferred regardless and will be a candidate for regular decision. With a 8% accept rate, it’s a reach either way.

As others have said, it doesn’t really matter.

I’ll take the opportunity here to give some unsolicited advice - namely, that you might want to consider other schools if you’re going into CS. There’s some distinct qualities of UChicago that are sort of hard to find elsewhere, but in terms of CS, there are many many schools that are superior in education, quality, cost, and so on.

Ok thanks guys. Of course im appying to other schools especially good for cs as well, but i like Chicago in that it can offer career paths other than the typical software company. Thanks again.
