For people that switched to ED II after getting deferred from EA, is there some way to check to make sure they switched your application to ED II in your portal account? Since i emailed them and they said they would change it to ED II, but nothing looks different in my account (like it doesn’t say ED II anywhere) so I was wondering what your accounts looked like.
@katkatkatkat yeah, nothing in mine looks different. I think that once I send in my form, I’m going to email my Adcomm and make sure everything’s in order if I don’t see any confirmation that specifically says ED form turned in on my checklist or whatever.
@katkatkatkat My counselor confirmed I am switched over to EDII, but nothing changed on my account. As long as your counselor confirmed it, I’m guessing you should be fine.
people who chose ed2 after being deferred ea: did you send your letter affirming that uchicago was your number 1 at the same time that you sent the form requesting to be switched to ed2?
@tod4sl0sd1as Sending them at 2 different times. I wanted to have time to formulate it and make sure it’s descriptive but concise. I will be sending it in soon though.
@tod4sl0sd1as I sent mine at the same time just because they said online to like only send one email, and everything else is through the portal. If you are weary about sending it in the same email, just send it as an attachment.
Just so everyone is clear on the current subject: Requesting to switch to ED II actually IS affiriming that UChicago is your #1. You only need send one e-mail.
Got Intel semi finalist today. How do I update the info to them?
Are we supposed to attach the ED2 form to the email and also send it through the portal?
@tod4sl0sd1as I only uploaded it through the portal, and that worked.
AllyssXx, what portal you guys talking about? Is application deadline already passed?
@Poeny2015 The Prospective Student Portal is where you can upload.
About the ED Agreement on the commonapp, I saw it after I had submitted and asked my counselor about it. I got her email today saying that she had signed it and submitted it - isn’t this wrong? Don’t I have to sign it too? And my parents? I’m confused.
@Tgmeier36 so UChicago now has two ED agreements for your application? One with your and parents sigs, and the other with your counselor’s sig? That’s probably a bit unorthodox but guessing they have seen that before (forms cross in transit, etc.). Just check with your regional counselor to make sure they are comfortable with that (an e-mail might work on that one but calling is probably better because you can leave an immediate message).
@Tgmeier36, I suspect that your counselor filled out and submitted her portion of the ED agreement. That’s all. My S did ED to CMU and as far as I can remember it was the counselor’s portion then you and your parent’s portion and they can be submitted independently of one another. You just have to make sure that the counselor does hers.
Ah - so the agreement is only in effect if they receive all three sigs. but they can be submitted separately? That’s cool - didn’t realize Common Ap. had that feature. Learn something new every day.
has anyone got their PIN number and a link to the applicant portal from UChicago yet?
Just sign up for it by clicking on forgot password.
If you’ve sent them anything already (application, test scores, transcripts, etc.) they should have you on file already so try to create a portal account and see how far you get before going in the “back door” of the forgotten password. My D was able to create a portal pretty early on which was convenient for uploading documents, etc. before the deadline.
Should we send second semester grades when they become available (probably in late January) or will it be too late?
