UChicago ED II Class of 2021

Right from UChicago admissions :
If you would like to update us on your recent accomplishments, we would be glad to review additional materials. We prefer that you submit these materials through the Portfolio in your UChicago Account. Materials must be received by January 31, 2017.

I would think Q1 is good enough if you don’t have Q2 in by then.

If my school’s midyear report won’t be available until early February, do you think they’ll count it for EDII admission?

@ljnsdkfix I know for a fact that my daughter’s midyear report has been submitted but they don’t have it listed (and nothing is missing from her checklist). Do they even use the midyear report in the ED2 process?

I know that my Adcomm said to make sure my mid-year grades were sent to the admissions office, so I would assume it’s necessary.

Also–
by now it’s less than a month until decisions come out!

@ljnsdkflx I emailed and asked if it would matter if I got my mid-year report in a few days late, and my regional admissions officer said that would be completely fine.

Has anyone received an interview request or had an interivew?

@TheShortSon they don’t work like that. You set up an interview yourself.

Well, I meant after setting one up.

@TheShortSon I have not, after setting up an interview on Nov 17. My chance of getting in is probably bleak based on this.

Seriously, the interviews don’t affect (or reflect) admissions decisions. People get in without having (or even having requested) interviews. To the extent that you can talk your way into UChicago, it’s through your essays.

I had an interview back in October, but i know you had to request super early; most of my friends who requested in Nov. didn’t get one.

When might UChicago review applications for ED II?

Right now. Decisions come out in Feb.

So, they can make decision without seeing Mid-Year Report?

Has anyone applying EDII NOT sent in a mid-year report?

@JBStillFlying I have not sent mine.

And you haven’t been prompted to send it in, correct?

It’s weird because you’d think they would use the most recent materials available. My D’s counselor sent hers in but we have no way of knowing whether they are using it to make a decision. It’s not listed on her materials list even though we know they’ve received it.

@JBStillFlying I don’t think they use it for making a decision, but they may use it to see if the applicant is not slacking off for post acceptance.

@JBStillFlying Also, I have not been prompted to send it.

^^^Also I know they are interested in senior course load (regardless if it was on the initial application or not since things change)

I wonder if they’ll release the ED II date at a reasonable time this time around since there isn’t pressure from all the other ED/EA decisions coming out
