On a totally unrelated note, would being a legacy applicant help for ED II?
@TheShortSon, were you deferred from EA, or is ED II your first application to UChicago?
Those deferred from EA were told to send their Mid-Year grades and were also given the option of switching to EDII from RD. I don’t think that the switch was supposed to excuse them from still sending the grades - at least that was my impression from the communication. Perhaps there are no hard and fast rules here just due to the fact that some grade reports can’t be generated in time to factor into EDII decisions, while that obviously won’t be an issue for RD decisions.
My guess is that if you have mid-year grades by now, you should send them.
Legacy does help but committing via early decision probably helps more.
@JBStillFlying I applied ED II. I was not deferred.
@JBStillFlying I think if you don’t send Mid Year Report by Feb 4, it won’t be counted towards admission decision.
Does anyone know when the results are coming out for sure? Less than two weeks left X_X yikes
Good luck to everyone applying though!
@hirraine Probably Feb 15. I don’t think I’ll get in though.
I feel like they might waitlist applicants who don’t send mid year grades.
If we send mid year report by Feb 7, will it even be looked at?
I had an interview back in October, but i know you had to request super early; most of my friends didn’t get one after requesting in Nov.
Just checking in to say hello to the EDII waiting crew. My DS applied and we’re counting the days. UChicago has been his first pick for awhile. I hope the best for everyone here! What major, if any, did you apply to?
@TheShortSon my best guess would be that if you’re already admitted (I think that decision would most likely be made one way or another by the 7th) your Mid Year report, if turned it around the 7th, will be looked only to confirm the choice. Unless it contained anything drastically different from the rest of your application I don’t think it wouldn’t make any difference.
So feb 15th seems like a likely date, yes? What time did it come out for ED1? #1.5wks2go
It was a little later than most ED II–if I remember correctly, it was the 17th. I would put my money on the 13th or the 15th just because they don’t have the same ‘restraints’ that many people thought they did in releasing ED I and EA decisions; I’m ~hoping~ for the 13th just because 2 days earlier is gonna be SUCH a big difference when we are counting down hours.
For people who have interviewed, is there any sign of an interview on your portal? I interviewed AT UChicago in December but there is no sign of an interview on my portal.
There was no ED II (or ED I, for that matter) at UChicago last year.
UChicago received the largest ever early applications. 13,000 for ED1and EA. Total admission from that was 9 %…About two thirds of the admits were ED1. This is startling when you consider the substantial double digit early admit stats for the other top peer colleges. It is also in line with this year being the most competitive by far for all college admissions.
@Chrchill Where did you get these facts from? I’ve been trying to find out info on this, but I couldn’t find it/find it from reliable sources.
@iloveuchicago I had my request in my portal for a while, but that was it. no confirmation in the portal itself about having received an interview or if the interviewer had submitted anything.
regarding stats: Uchicago hasn’t posted any numbers themselves regarding EA or ED I admissions stats, so i would just be very wary of any other numbers that are posted as it will probably be all speculation.
Last year EA stats were discussed at (at least some) admitted student receptions in January.
